Quick Recap from last thread...
Right quick recap for those who can't be bothered to read the whole thread
There is a fab meet (which I assume to be more social than play) at 7pm on Thursday at the Cider Bus. There are links to the fineguide or glastoearth above if you don't know where the cider bus is and many people on site will know where it is.
I say social as you only have to look at the ratio of people whom may attend that there are an awful lot of males attending.... If you're expecting to play expect to be disappointed
Although I can't speak for the females and couples attending, they may want to play but I wouldn't be expecting too much...
For map links see first thread here

Wow I'm getting really excited now. 4 hours work to do now and that's me done until afterwards. It's like christmas for adults
Oh and for those that don't enjoy proper scrumpy there is a normal bar right next door, the rumor is that it is Turborg lager again this year |

Yes the cider bus is heaving on a night. We need something to identify fabbers. Maybe everyone should get a sticker with the letter "F" on it. If we choose a colour or a hat etc there will be lots of non swingers in that type of outfit so it needs to be unique. Alternatively there is a meeting point just a bit away from the cider bus at the edge of the pyramid stage field and if the meeting time is between 7 and 7.30 then that may be an easier option then walk the few yards to the cider bus |

Information Points
• Information Points bulge with things you didn’t realise you
needed to know. They can give you directions, maps, transport
details, local town and Festival information. They will post
cards home, take in lost property, offer help and support,
handle complaints/compliments, provide recharging for disabled
people’s wheelchairs, toilet rolls, recycling bags, sun cream and
condoms – and all of that is free!
• You can buy programmes.
• If you get lost, or lose track of your friends, try leaving a message
at any (or all) of the sixInformation Points, and/or with Worthy FM
(87.7 FM). The Information Point beside the Meeting Point offers a
24 hour service.
• For the very first time,Festival Information will be available on
Twitter too! Anyone attending the Festivalcan now tweet their
question to @glastoinfo between 8am and midnight, Wednesday
to Sunday, and we’ll do our very best to tweet back the answer!
• The only public payphones are at Information Points.
• A free daily newspaper, The Glastonbury Free Press, will be
distributed around site on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and will be
available at Information Points. From around 8.00am on Monday, the
souvenir ‘Q Review’ will be on sale for £4 at the Main Information
Point and at all exit gates. You can also place an advance order
at an Information Point and have one posted to yourself, or your
favourite aunt or friend who could not make the Festival.

Medical & Welfare ? • There is a Medical Centre near the farmhouse at the top of the site,
three minor injury units, two first aid points, a pharmacy and two
Welfare Centres – check out the map.
• The Welfare Centres provide experienced, caring and confidential
help for all kinds of practical and personal problems.
• Lostchildren are cared for in the KidzField until 8pm daily,
after which they are taken to Wagonshed Welfare, next to the
farmhouse. Some parents like to write their mobile number on their
child’s hand/arm in case they get lost. Alternatively, use the markable wristbands that will be available at the pedestrian gates and
at Information points.
• Green Fields offer a variety of alternative therapies.

Getting there
• Travelling by publictransport saves you money, reduces pollution,
is stress-free, sociable and helps you to beat the queues. Seriously
consider leaving your car at home.
• Gates open from 8am Wednesday 26th June. Car parks will be
open overnight on Tuesday, but if you arrive early you have to stay
in your car until the gates open. Stewards will not permit any fires,
music or partying in the car parks. We are also planning to open
the campervan/caravan fields slightly earlier, with access available
from Tuesday afternoon. Please note campervans/caravans staying
within the disabled campsite will not be able to gain access until
8am Wednesday 26th. June
• The last part of yourcar journey can be the longest – be ready for
queues and bring plenty of water and make use of the loo before
you getclose to the Festival. The longest queues on the roads
will be between 7.00 and 13.00 on Wednesday 26th – with the
greatest delays being on the A39 from the M5. Plan your journey to
avoid the busiest times and routes, and listen to your radio for up
to date traffic information.
• Look after your ticket; they’re like gold-dust. In the past there have
been thefts of tickets at motorway services some distance from the
Festival.
• Avoid driving through Pilton village – please respect local residents’
homeland and property and don’t trespass in the village.
• If you use Sat Nav,check out directions to Car Parks further on, in
the Fine Guide map – and when you getclose to the site follow the
car park signs and the directions of stewards.
• How aboutcycling to Worthy Farm this year? There are guided rides
from Bristol, or you can make your own way if you live locally. Either
way, your luggage will be carried to and from the Festival, and you
can use a secure campsite just forcyclists. To find out more, head to
http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/cycling

"lol - cycling - now theres an idea "
They got a goody bag and there own camping field in 2011 I think. The attempt at forcing people on to coaches to improve the green alternative is silly, I've heard of someone travelling to Glasgow from dorset to get on the coach back to glastonbury as they will give out the tickets on the coach... |

Hope to meet some of you there, will be my 5th Glasto (I think!), love petes idea, asking if everyone is having a 'fab' time, as a Yorkshire lad I'll probably head to the Yorkshire flag and in a highly intoxicated state shout 'yarkshire' or something and be immediately rejected by the group! Whether I manage the meet or not (I'm experienced enough to never make any concrete plans at Glastonbury) hope everyone has an amazing time, feels like my second home, so much to do and see! |

Hi all, bit late to the thread but hey. I've been going to Glasters since 88 and working there for well over ten years so an old hand. One thing I've learnt is meeting people is nigh on impossible (especially if you don't know who you're looking for!). You have something that really stands out like a special flag on a real big pole!
The cider bus WILL be rammed on Thursday and to be honest the meeting point will probably be extremely crowded with people, erm, meeting.
Timing is generally difficult so go for a time range 7 - 7.30 should be ok but the site is huge and it ALWAYS takes longer to get somewhere than you think, especially when wandering about staring at stuff! I would re-iterate that the best way to find people is to have something that really stands out.
I'd love to meet up with some other fabbers so will try to make it for the meet but it depends on work. Walking about the cider bus shouting "is anyone having a fab time" will result in about 300 people all shouting YES, we get an entire field cheering everytime a sound engineer walks on stage, it's that kind of place lol.
Contacting people by mobile can be difficult, the network gets real busy so it can actually take hours for a message to get through at peak times, hopefully they've upped the capacity, every year is a learning curve so things get better year on year. It might even be worth looking at fab on your mobile and posting meets on this forum (just an idea).
Anyway would be great to have a social in a field in Somerset so can someone message me here if the plan comes together? Else I'll try the meeting point at 7, but without knowing who to look for don't hold out much hope
Enjoy, and bring your wellies and sunscreen!

Well, the tent has all the bits it should have. I've found the rucksacks amongst all the detritus at the back of the shed. Mrs JFL has emptied her car of all her marketing crap, so we can fit all the good stuff in (and then buggered off to Cardiff for 2 days...back Wednesday afternoon). Bought a couple of torches. Booze has been bought. I'm guessing we're about ready !
Just need to look through the planner again and try and convince myself that musically, this isn't the worst Glastonbury ever ! Pretty much all the meagre pickings that I want to see (apart from Nick Cave) are on at the same time as the other meagre pickings I want to see !! |

I've always worked in an environment where it's best not to build up expectations. Which includes meeting a bloke in a pub who's got a Glastonbury ticket and just turning up expecting to get in. Good luck to you if you do but I wasn't going to blow smoke up your arse and tell you it would be easy. If you've got a wristband on and have got in without a ticket with ID on it, then well done. No need to be abusive though when all I've offered is practical advice from 30 odd years of going to gigs.
Peace...

AFAIK staff/artists/performer tickets don't require id, mine certainly doesn't though you need to be the right sex at least, getting in on a ticket with "Gary Smith" written on it if you're a lady will probably take some explaining!
I have to say the days where you could just turn up and jump the fence are long gone (been there and done it). The massive overcrowding in the old days was an accident waiting to happen and quite rightly they had to sort it out or lose the festival entirely. People still get in though so it's not impossible, just much more difficult. The whole picture/id thing came about because people were being mugged on route for their tickets, it got very nasty, violent even, so they did something about it, and to prevent touts from charging extortionate amounts.
Anyway, without a means to identify fabbers (other than looking around 500 cider drinkers for a hoodie with CAT on it!) I fancy a meet up will be optimistic. I still might bumble over though and take a gander, though having got d*unk on cider one year and dealing with the subsequent hangover I won't be doing that again!
Good luck all, and hope you have a marvelous festival, looks like it's going to be a good year even if the music isn't to everyones taste (you can't please everyone lol). I'll keep an eye out for a lady with a strap on, though you'll probably have to put it on your forehead to get noticed lol.

Dizzee was good fun, not my usual thing but he knew exactly how to get a crowd going.
My grand daughter got herself on the big screen and the BBC coverage a few times when she was on my shoulders during Kenny Rogers' Sunday afternoon slot.
Meet at Glastonbury ? Way too much of a logistical nightmare !

"I was never that confident it would happen but ever the optimist lol ... I was there and saw no badges or flags. Only rain rain rain ... cider was nice though!
"
Cider is always nice, and well priced, I'd be happy paying that most places for a decent drink |

So did anybody get lucky (if only the daft punk rumours were true) or manage to meet? Or was everybody at the meeting place waiting for Catzz?
Great time, much love |

"Can anyone lend me some new feet ! ?
Band of the weekend...Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
Best band I never saw...Portishead, because the kids wanted to see The Arctic Monkeys and then bailed after 3 songs, as they were utter shite (which i'd been telling them they would be all week !)
You could have mine... But I broke them. Dizzee was the best for me. I joined my mates to watch Actic Monkeys and yawned through it. I don't know how anyone has a meet at glasto. It's so mad!!
Dizzee was good fun, not my usual thing but he knew exactly how to get a crowd going.
