Hi, We all have our likes and dislikes. I often see profiles looking for a particular thing and then they qualify it with "not prejudice just my preference". Got me wondering what is the difference? |

A prejudice is a dislike for no other reason than skin colour , nationality etc....
A preference is having a choice and choosing a specific for no other reason reason than being able to exercise that preferential choice .

As above, I'd assume that prejudice means to pre-judge, probably based on things like race and nationality, whereas preference is something you've personally learned over time that you enjoy, so basically:
Prejudice: Negative exclusion
Preference: Positive selection |

"So if I say I like fit guys it is a preference but if I say no fattys it's prejudice? "
No, because presumably you don't find fat guys attractive because you're not attracted to them physically, there's no pre-judging involved because you can already tell you're not attracted just by looking at them. |

"If you were to say no fatties because they all have bad breath that would be prejudice!"
I see but it's a thin grey line...I still think that often preferences are often based on prejudice. |

Yes for a lot of people they undoubtably are. A sad fact of life but I think most of us are guilty of prejudice at some point, maybe without even realising what we are doing. |
