Many be not the benefits you might have thought I meant
There are plenty of people who have a go at benefit thieves/fraudsters …. as a tax payer I can understand that and like many others get annoyed when I see something on telly about people claiming disability for a bad back or whatever and then caught on cam working cash-in-hand for a delivery business (for example)… actually I don’t get annoyed at those people, I have a chuckle as they have been caught and will now have to pay it all back.
Anyway, the question is…. would you grass up a meet (after the fact/act) if you found out they were a benefit thief?

If we came away unsatisfied, yes lol "
Funny - I was thinking of adding would how the meet went or likelihood of a re-meet make a difference |

In all honesty, no we wouldn't grass anyone up, it's usually those on the bottom of the ladder that seem to get caught tho |

I dont meet people that dont work but I'd never grass anyone up for one simple reason. I remember years ago when I worked freelance helping a man set up his marketing business from home. This man was loaded, drove a new Saab and was happy to tell me about all the scams he was pulling, benefits he was claiming etc. He could afford to pay his way and didnt the majority of those that cheat are in genuine need. I'm more peeved about millionaire MPs claiming for moat cleaning, helipad repairs, duck houses etc than some poor sod earning a little extra to supplement their benefit! |

"may i ask why you wont meet people who dont work
if i won the lottery would i then be ruled out " This is strictly fun fantasy for me. Part of the excitement for me is calling my sub out of a meeting to come and play: they claim they'll do anything and I like to push boundaries. If you're a multi-millionaire free to do what you like when you like you'd be of no use to me either! I dont need to justify to anyone how I choose my playmates: but you asked nicely x |

I recieve Disablity Living Allowance, but to many people I dont LOOK disabled therefore I must be a cheat.
But I was told to put in the claim by my GP Dermatologist and the Benefits Agency - I ignored them for ages until I could no longer do many of the things I used to do.
Then when I got that bad I was again TOLD (the guy from the Jobcentre said if he was me he would have put in a claim years ago!!) I did contact the CAB who also told me they had filled in forms for people not as bad as me, and I should have claimed before.
Now the forms may be filled in by the person claiming (or in my case CAB) but the Department of Work and Pensions contacts doctors and any and all specialists before they make a decision.
So all I ask is before people decide I am a cheat stop and ask yourself if I claim something like DLA who agreed I was as bad as I am??
Which doctors said the injury or disability is real??
Are you really qualified to say that I am a cheat??
Just because I may be having a good day doesnt mean I am always like this - in fact any day I actually leave the house and go out or meet someone for a coffee I am generally doped up to the eyeballs on pain killers and pay for it for days.

Yes I would - in particular the woman who lives over the road from me.
Off work permenantly with a 'bad back', she's never worked in almost 7 years that I've lived beside her and she claims all the benefits that are avaiable to her.
But she has 5 dogs and manages to walk them 3 and 4 times per day and she also has 2 full sized allotment gardens, one which contains ducks and hens, the eggs which she sells at the local community hut, the other one contains vegetables and such like.
I appreciate that some readers may not have seen an allotment garden or understand how big they are, so just as a rough idea, they are maybe about 6 times the size of your average house garden, and she has 2 of these and works them herself - not bad for someone with a bad back.!
Have I reported her - of course I have. has anything happened ?
Put it like this - 18 months down the line she still sells her eggs .... walks her dogs and doesn't go to work so make your own minds up.
It really pisses me off to think that both myself and the wife go to work to sometimes only break even at the end of the month and this bitch comes and goes as she pleases, rubbing everyone's nose in it as she goes along her merry fucking way - and she gets away with it despite being reported.
Makes mental note to contact the fraud line again

Of course not, we've never claimed benefits, but I can understand / sympathise with those that have no option in an attempt to make ends meet, what gets me is the two tier system where those who can least afford it are prosecuted, whilst the others walk away with no conscience what so ever, how dare they, how bloody dare they treat us like second class citizens, roll on the revolution |

Revolution ??
Bring it on - that's the most sensible word I've seen in these forums in a long while.
A revolution is long overdue in this country. It's time we Brits stood up and got ourselves counted and let the powers to be see that we're not gonna stand for being screwed any longer ..
We call the French, but at least they have the balls to stand up for what they believe in and make their presence felt .. |

YES she should be reported and I hope you and Mrs Redhot keep reporting her I would also advise you take some pics of your dogs and ohh look who is in the background carrying her shopping up the road all 10 bags of it!!
I would pay back every penny I have had in DLA payouts if it meant I could be back to how I used to be, and it annoys me no end when people like Mr Redhots neighbour cheat the system - its there to help the genuine people not to suppliment an income they have already.
I cannot do my own shopping, I cannot carry shopping bags, I certainly could not do any gardening never mind look after 2 allotments!!!
I cannot even walk anywhere with someone with me as I can be quite unsteady on my feet.
Personally if I was you Mr Redhot I would take pics and when next off work on a week day take them to the local Jobcentre and demand to see a claim officer showing them the pics (clearly showing your dogs or Mrs Redhot in the foreground so as not to infringe the womans human rights lol)and tell them exactly what she does with times and dates and other neighbours to back you up.
Also get the other neighbours to complain as much as possible, cos the jobcentre will eventually get sick fed up of you all going down and complaining and they will send out the fraud officers who will watch her, or at least thats what they do up here, if someone is complained about enough.

We call the French, but at least they have the balls to stand up for what they believe in and make their presence felt .." Thing is people are so brow beaten and disillusioned that they just struggle on and quietly seeth in resentment. Middle Britain, which is the majority of us, work, pay our taxes, live within our means, marry and have children: in that order, have only the children we can afford, ensure they have a good education, grow up to be respectable to themselves and others but we are first to be charged and last to be helped. Between us my ex husband, my two working children and I pay over 5 grand in tax every month. It costs us over £140 in train fares for our youngest to get to college 8 miles away!!! No help there, but if we didnt work etc they would through money at us. It is frustrating and unfair so we need to do something about it and say enough but I think it'll fall on deaf ears and we'll continue subsidising the bone idle, cheats and foreigners until we have no option to revolt! Ok...off to sip some jasmine tea and relax...rant over! |

I've never advocated violence, but I genuinely believe the tide is turning, and the Country is about to face some very serious issues, we have immigration / youth crime / unemployment / social deprivation all out of control, when a country faces raising unemployment the people become bored and frustrated, it's at this time that boredom and frustration turn to anger, it only takes a spark to light a fire, politicians of all parties need to hear the warning sooner rather than later. |

Thank You for your kind words Sassymissuk.
I started adding to this thread because I wanted people to understand that some people (like me) dont appear to be disabled but are.
But after reading Mr Redhots post I can understand why people will look at me and think chancer scrounger and other such things.
Personally I believe if you know the curcumstances yes people who cheat (not just look like cheats) should be reported.
Unfortunatly (as I have recently found out) its the scroungers and chancers who know every little thing they can claim (and do) its the genuine people (generally those who have never had to claim any benefits before) who have no idea what they are entitled to.

Sadly yes, and it's not the peoples fault you're tarnished with the same brush, it's the tabloid media that feeds incorrect information to an already angered population, how is anyone expected to know how many genuine cases exist, we don't, what we do know is the minority of cases where the system is abused due to hyped up journalism, Shona, we feel for you, we really do, as a genuine case, try getting press coverage for your circumstances, you won't be able to, the media are not interested in genuine cases as it won't have any effect unlike headlines as: “Benefit Fiddlers” |

Ohh hun I wasnt having a go at Mr Redhot and as you yourself know I like to have a laugh and joke here on the forums, and I really dont use them to push other peoples buttons.
What I meant by saying I was tarred with the same brush was simply she is a con artist and because of that I get people looking closely at my situation - which since I am not lying about my condition I dont care about - its the fact that I am treated like a scrounger first and genuine second!!
As for media hype - I would love for research to be done into what can help my condition even the british skin foundation wont do any research since not enough people have this!!!!
And you are very right we do only hear about the fraud cases never the genuine cases cos the papers arent interested.
And to be perfectly honest I cant stand people who wont get off their arse and help themselves and expect people like you (the tax payers) to keep them and their ever expanding brood of kids in holidays abroad, fancy new cars, new houses whatever.
If you can afford the fancy new car or lots of holidays abroad your not on the bread line and the benefits system is only supposed to be there to keep people out of poverty, not keep people in new cars and such like.

Yeah tell me about it .... I'm self employed and 1 year ago I was ill due to having pneumonia so I claimed, or tried to claim, sickness benefit. So far so good, I pissed about with the DWP or whatever they call themselves these days, waited amd waited, went back to work, still hardly able to breathe but almost bankrupt so I had no option, eventually after a lot of fucking about, telephone calls etc etc, I was informed I could clam nothing cos my NI contributions were short of 2 payments - yes 2 payments - £20 or so but this meant I could claim nowt, however the DWP said if I paid the shortfall I may be eligible for benefit for the time I was off work, so I paid the 20 quid or whatever it was that I owed to HMRC, the applied to have my case reviewed, only to be told that there was a 6 week penalty period so I was still due nothing !!!!!
So I was off work, made no money, scrounged about to pay my NI shortfall following the advice of the DWP, then told I still was entitled to bollox all and people wonder why I get vexed |

Lets look at it another way ....
Your local shop charges a quid for a loaf of bread but the shopkeeper has had a lot of problems with folks pinching his stock, so he increases the price of bread by 50p to cover his losses, so you'd be happy to pay the extra 50 so others could have a free loaf ? |

reposted to correct typo
Your payslips should have been sufficicent for DHSS/ DWP purposes and it would have been DWP's job to take the matter up with your employer. If you haven't done so yet, ask Citizen's Advice or a local welfare/ benefits rights organisation to investigate on your behalf. |

If and where savings are made, it would just increase our overseas donation to third world countries, I don't believe for one minute it would increase public spending, just like if shoplifters never existed, would the price of good come down, I very much doubt it |

Or may be just a few less cuts in other spending... such as NHS, education, law enforcement and so on. It is true by catching the fraudsters they will not be giving more to the people who genuinely need it... but the more people who steal from the pot the more other pots get cut-backs. |

What people do about those they suspect of cheating the benefits system is entirely up to them.
One thing we can all do is ensure any older relatives, friends or neighbours are getting everything they're entitled to. One of the hardest tasks in welfare rights is getting older folks to have a benefits check. Many still see it as being charity. |

I do that for anyone who's needin help with forms or what they may be entitled to especially with a lot of the older folks around me and with claims for industrial things ie mining etc. many people are unaware what they are entitled too and the forms can be very confusing.
the system is really needin overhauled quickly to catch out the real cheats.

They probably spend more trying to catch them than they do paying them out in the first place.
It’s just a shame that the majority of people on benefits live in poverty, if the tabloids where to be believed everyone claiming any type of benefit would be on 25K with a mansion thrown in, couldn’t be further from the truth.
Funny how you read every so often of so and so with a 10 bedroom house and living on 30K benefits, while in truth the majority of pensioners and single parents struggle to keep there bloody houses warm yet go unmentioned and are unworthy of the ink.

"its the system thats wrong,,as well as the peeps get the system sorted and it would stop"
The system's not wrong - it's just a bit complicated - it has to cover a lot of different circumstances; that's why folks like CAB and welfare rights organisations are needed but the main problem is getting older folks to ask for help in the first place.
There's a welfare rights organisation based locally to me which has helped local people get nearly £2 million (last I heard) in the last two years. It obviously won't go on at that rate 'cos there's a lot of backpayments of housing/ council tax benefit etc in there but they still struggle to get through to older (75+) people. |

Exactly.
The point is that by breaking light fingers raiding the cookie jar the rest of us can carry on the same way with a lower tax burden (that means more of your own money in your own pocket) OR the same tax revenue spent on health, education, equipping the Armed Forces etc etc.
Just can't view your tax payments as a fixed expense. The tax we all pay in reflects what's been taken out.
I don't mind for one moment paying for someone who's ill, or is between jobs, working in a school, carrying a rifle abroad etc. I definately do mind being stolen from by people who are not entitled to what they're claiming for. |

I suppose it would depend on the person, if I felt they were genuine and needed the extra to live, then perhaps not, but if it was someone doing it deliberately to fraud and cheat, then I would consider it.
Might get me hated lol |
