Probably wouldn't use hand sanitiser. Just boiling water in a dish or a bowl and drop the rods into that and leave for a few mins. They and keep as clean/untouched as possible until applying slight lube then inserting and go slowly x |

I get a cystoscopy done once a year, having a thin camera inserted in my pee hole to gain access to my bladder after cancer surgery.. the camera is about 4mm diameter, they use a numbing jel first, a little sort afterwards but not to painful. |
