Hi, I am an experienced bi guy, as some friends on here will agree, but i find it quite hypercritical of bi ladies that say bi men are a turn off.. Is it unfair of me to think like that? |

Maybe for some its just not there thing...same as straight women or men and a long shot but the thought of two women may be a turn off to some bi guys.
Its all about preference and going for what turns you on....and if 2 bi blokes don't do it for a bi woman find someone it does do it for. |

"Its personal preference "
Absolutely. My partner is bi, but she won't play with bi-guys - and that's her preference. Simple as that. Other bi women love playing with bi guys - that's their preference.
I have a customer who is gay. He HATES (!!) lesbians with a passion! Well, to listen to him I think it's bordering on a campaign not far short of the Final Solution... that's his preference.
Plus ca change... |

Im not saying it isnt personal preference, i just find it a tad hypercritical to include in the profile. each to their own and that, but i was asking if its wrong of me to view it this way |

Understand that, but would you prefer the alternative, which would be for you to possibly spend a lot of time chatting to someone who you are never going to meet in reality as they haven't made it clear in their profile that they don't meet a particular type/orientation of person.. and you happen to be that person..? |

Yes its like saying a blonde who has a preference for brunettes is hypocritical people can prefer to meet with whom and im sure just because they prefer not to play with bi men does not mean they don't like them. |

I am bisexual....bisexual men do not interest me in the slightest, I don't find sexual acts between men a turn on.
Does that make me a hypocrite or someone who is exercising their rights of personal preference?
Do I care? |

There seems to be plenty of women on here who specifically request bi men.
And why is it hypocritical? Just because they want a same sex experience of one sort, does not mean they should indulge in that of another sort. Each to their own. |

But isn't it a tad hypercritical to pick on people for putting what their preference is in THEIR profile? Especially just after saying its their personal preference!! |

Bi men dont do anything for me sexually, but I think you dont like it, because it directly affects (negatively impacts)you.
Is it hypercritical? That's up to you.
Within our sexual preferences we are allowed to be selfish and take what we want, so it can be 'off putting' to others, however as was mentioned further up. If it wasn't stated in the profile, would you feel disappointed to find after some conversation, that you were 'barking up the wrong tree?'
I don't meet with couples on here, and have heard over and over that I've a 'thing against couples, however they are just 2 individuals' If I publish my friends list, there are couples in it; however, that's not what my profile is trying to attract so I don't advertise it. I would not show veri's from couples as again I dont want to 'give out the wrong signals' Is it hypercritical of me? Or is it just how I use the site, to my advantage and my preference? |

In a word - yes.
Preferences will never be hypocritical - even 'exclusive' ones rather than inclusive.
Unless the profile owner is doing something themselves but advocating that others don't/can't/shouldn't. |

In that case yes you are wrong, it's only hypercritical if they insist you are turned on by watching them.
Each of us has a list of turn on's and turn off's with a large bit of don't mind's in the middle.

You won't get many interesting answers to this question, because most people will just repeat the mantra that it's all personal preferences - which is certainly true, but doesn't mean we can't have an interesting discussion about those preferences; same way people may have an interesting discussion about art, perhaps from a critical perspective.
That said, I'm not sure what you mean by hypercritical. |

Not worth worrying about

Hypocritical would only be saying one thing and doing another - or vice versa!
Whether its prejudicial - or the old 'double standards' - which has been discussed many times before I'd another question.
Personally the preferences of others only bother me in the respect that I'll either fit them - or not! I do however quietly snigger at the 'shouty block capital' brigade of couples who feel the need to state (sometimes several times in their text!) that under no circumstances should bi/curious males do much as peek at them - closely followed by endless gushing remarks about the wonder that is the single bi fem! I sometimes wonder if they forget that 'bi' by definition means that the guys in question still enjoy plenty of 'lady love' - and are not going to pounce on straight guys in couples simply because they're there!!
But that's another argument altogether! |

It's not like discussing art at all. Art has themes and ideas - it's meant to provoke thought and emotions. Art is made specifically for other people to engage with.
People's sexual preferences are not meant to be anything other than what they like.
Individuals can certainly discuss what they themselves like/don't like, but the endless questioning on these forums of other people's preferences is really boring. |

Philosophers have written a lot about the philosophy of sexual preferences. Take Plato's Symposium (though perhaps that's about love), or Foucault's three volume history of sexuality. Or look here http://shaunmiller.wordpress.com/2011/08/16/various-philosophers-on-sex/.
But does hypercritical here mean hypocritical? |

Bi men are more at risk of stis. Woman on woman action is much, much safer. For some it could purely be about limiting risk. So no it's not hypocritical imo |

"Bi men are the most likely to carry stds apparently ..perhaps that has something to do with it? "
I'm so glad you inserted the word 'apparently' into that statement or I would just have had to have taken my frustration on that issue out on your bottom.
And of course, being a bi man, I am riddled with STDs (infact, I have the full set, collectors edition) |

Of course, the male is straight and they only want to meet single women...

To all who dont/wont meet bi males how do you know the straight males you meet are straight ?

not really no
you like what you like and you cant help what turns you on and off, all because a woman likes other women don't mean she wants to see two men at it
I suppose if a bi woman says two men together is wrong that's hypercritical but if she says its just not for her that's fine |

In a swingers club a while back, in full view in a public area two females got down and dirty. Fully naked and buried in a 69 position, a few people gathered and watched, some of them got physical too.
I've since wondered what would have happened if it was two guys? I think we all know the answer... everyone would have walked away, a few would be complaining to the club owner. They at best would have been asked to stop by the club or perhaps escorted to the car park by the straight guys. Now that wouldn't be about STI risk, that's about finding male-on-male repulsive.
That aside a couple friends of ours the hubby is bisexual and his wife is straight. She is not 'just' straight, she finds lesbian sex a turn off, doesn't even want to see it! While on the other hand she finds bi-guy on bi-guy a great turn on.
Angie loves guy-on-guy and would say she is straight, unless a bi-fem chooses to seduce her.
It's not hypercritical... it's just the way it is |
