Something where I can tell you've read the profile and are talking to me, as opposed to every woman within fifty miles. ("I've read your profile" is not sufficient. "Hot pictures" really doesn't work either, given my current photos are decidedly not)
Being polite. (Not deferential, but polite. I'm not an animal, I'm not a sex toy, I'm not less worthy of respect than you.)
Give me some idea of why I might be interested in you. (Bravado and bad erotica are bad ideas)
A well written profile that gives me an idea of why I might be interested in you.

If I don't like what I see on the profile then I won't even open the message let alone reply
However a message that shows they match what I'm looking for (showing they've read my profile) and a sense of humour tends to get a reply from me |
