Similar to meeting someone in the real world whether in a pub or night club, besides the opportunity to offer a drink

OP, you read their profile, glean whatever you find genuinely interesting from their descriptions and perhaps from their photos (not just photos of the person but anything in the backdrop which may give an insight to them).
Look for whatever piques your interest - it could be a reference to something that they are interested in or they have written, or something witty and humourous perhaps.
Be lighthearted, add a little humour, make your opening gambit stand out, refer to something from their profile and create a focus of discussion from it. Ensure your message isn't passive and 'closed' otherwise it may not warrant a response, instead make it open-ended. If however you don't want to ask a general question then give them an impetus to acknowledge something you've inferred: for example, something like - "I noticed the Carnations in your photo. They rarely thrive in the shade, wouldn't you agree?". Or something like that anyway.
And then...be ready for disappointment. No matter how handcrafted your message is it will linger amongst the 100s in their inboxes. As it's often said it's a numbers game on here; the imbalance of men versus women. 🩶 |

A nice message gets our attention and normally a reply even if it’s just to say no thank you if your what we are looking for we ll carry on the conversation…you shouldn’t have any problems if you word things correctly your a decent looking guy |

Just be yourself, try and engage with others. Sort out the info on your profile - for a non smoker/non drinker, you seem to like wine and cigarettes? Not so much it's an issue... But I'd instantly think what else are you not being upfront about |

Read their profile find common ground and write about who you are and how you have common interests. Always good to mention what you are looking for too. Genuine compliments and manners are a must. If it’s a couples profile then address them both. |
