Is anyone on Telegram and how does it work? |

Pay little regards to the remark above about "telegram coming down". It's not.
I find Telegram™ indispensable and it's one of the more secure, convenient and intuitive messaging apps, loaded with features. I also use it as an indicator of people's intelligence: if I'm chatting to a woman and she insists on moving from Fab messaging to Kik™ then I usually kill the conversation. It's Telegram or nothing, or stick to Fab messaging.
Signal is also good but the take up is significantly less than Telegram. At the end of the day there's only so many messaging apps you can have and manage concurrently. |

Exactly this. If someone wants to chat this my preferred platform for all communication, keeping all parties safe. Once you learn how to use it, its a good tool  |

Most of the club nights we go to have a telegram chat and its a great way of getting to know people.
Pretty decent for privacy once you tweak all the settings to your liking. Only certain people being able to see your pictures or bio for example. |

Yes because they are 2 very different aspects of our life. Our profile pics have our kids in, we don't want that world mixing with this. Sadly there is also stories of guys/girls/cpls going strange after a meeting and getting a bit stalkerish, imagine if that sort of person had your number too. Makes great common sense not to hand them out. |

Telegram is definitely a vast improvement on Kik. You are able to choose whether you want to share your phone number or not in the settings.
The self erasing pics feature is a nice touch too.

Mine neither. I just use it for receiving NHS texts because I know that the battery will last for weeks.
I don't encourage many apps on my three main smartphones. Backrod creation scheme as far as I can see. |

It works like WhatsApp, but you can use a username (ab_1010 for me) rather than your phone number, and you have plenty of options for sending videos and pics - single view, time limited, etc. It is my preferred way of sharing videos and arranging meets. |

I keep my phone number to myself, only a very small percentage of people ever had a problem with that. If it makes me "fake", then be it. I am much more wary of anyone wanting to move away from Fab within the first message or two.
To the OP: I use Telegram, I like the option of not having to give people my number, just my username there. It's good for group chats, and if the constant notifications get too annoying (some people seem not to have lives away from the chat), it's possible to mute those. |

If you type in the search box the username of any of those groups they will show up in the list, you can then click or tap on them and press the join button.
But you need to type with @ such as @fabswingerz. |

2. It's a closed group (i.e. Private Group) and the group owner has to send you an invitation link. The invitation link would look something like {redacted telegram linkt}/+MTGTqCtski02MTpp3
If it's a closed group then it makes sense. You wouldn't want every man and his dog to enter that group without ensuring the person is 18+ years old.

You can’t really chat 3/4 ways on fab either so perfect for that too.

The reason why it's probably not showing is either:
1. No such group exists and it's a wind up.
2. It's a closed group (i.e. Private Group) and the group owner has to send you an invitation link. The invitation link would look something like {redacted telegram linkt}/+MTGTqCtski02MTpp3
If it's a closed group then it makes sense. You wouldn't want every man and his dog to enter that group without ensuring the person is 18+ years old.
(To test it I also tried to access that group, via Telegram Premium, and nothing showed up)
