"What is an oriental person?"
Technically, anyone who is from the East.
So I guess anything exotic that is not European.
As the term "Asian" in the UK describes "Black Caucasians" (from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka), I consider myself an "Oriental" as I am of "Mongoloids" ethnicity, or from South East Asia. These include China, Japan, Korea, Indo-China, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.
Some people find that term offensive, but personally, I used is to distinguish myself that I am not from Indian Sub Continent. |
