When did choking become the norm?

I know it's each to their own but why is choking now a thing? I find the concept quite aggressive and controlling and wouldn't put my hands to a woman's throat, even if she asked me

its not the norm ..nowhere near ...
its a control thing that done right with the right person of trust can be very hot ..

My partner and I attended a workshop. There's that and there's asphyxiation in the same ball park. Basically there are two elements. The physical feeling of breath restriction or reduced blood flow, and the power control dynamic that is psychological. I agree and what you are talking about is not consented. If someone did that its actually assault. You would possibly take this to the police, or you could do if you wanted to.

I agree and what you are talking about is not consented. If someone did that its actually assault. You would possibly take this to the police, or you could do if you wanted to.

It's thankfully not the norm, though you'd be forgiven for thinking so - it's something that has grown out of online porn addiction, especially among more immature young men who no longer find "regular" sex stimulating enough. Choking is really good if boundaries are agreed, this is an area where experience counts, unfortunately some people see it in porn and try and recreate it in real life.
