Anyone else remember this era. Non stop clubbing, raves, parties, spanish holidays. It was basically a free for all and sexfest most weeks.

Begs the question what on earth does the youth do now apart from playstation and xbox.

I had some amazing times

Wasn't it an era of record unemployment and recessions, and people were scared of aids?

I think I was the only person ever to go on an 18-30 holiday to Ibiza and not get laid.

That was 1985 and I married in 1986.

I said what up bruvs

What you daud is true but to a lesser extent. The youth (GEN-Z) are more or less like that generation but with certain exceptions.

1) pubs and clubs are now seen as expensive (cost of living crisis) and samey. so they go less often but want a greater experience so instead of going to a club which is similar where ever (and expensive) you go. They rather save up and have one big blowout on a festival, or Ibiza/Berlin. The pandemic has taught petite that you don't need a pub or club to have a good time.

2) Gen-Z are now more health conciouse than previous generations so would rather not spend the time at clubs and pubs getting wasted to the early hours of the morning.

3) Gen-Z are more risk adverse. And perceaive a greater pressure to do well at uni, Sport, socially, career and academically etc. Extra things that are seen as a hinderence like clubbing are dropped. Gebln-Z and Alpha generation will inhabit the world left behind by boomers and millenis and they apparently do not want to make the same mistakes as we made to the planet. Gen-Z often are more anxious than previous generations so are less likely to enter environments where they are not comfortable.

4) Gen-z also have a smaller but closer knitted group of freinds and would rather spend a nice quiet pint talking to them or playing a computer games with them rather than dancing in a club where you can't hear each other or your bit unsure of the intentions of the single bloke trying to dance with you.

5) Gen-Z are not millennials we are in our 30-40s now we have young families looking eaggly and outbid the other heavily for the 2 bed buggalo for 375k and we are simply too old to go clubbing. The age of the jilted generation and the millennium is over. And it shows 300 nightclubs in London have closed perminatly since 2019. Nearly 1/2 of clubs in the UK have closed and a lot of pubs have also closed. Now they're are other reasons why but the most renouned and super clubs have closed. But quite simply to many of Gen-Z the 90s might be back in fashion but clubbing isn't that's something your rents did as it's considered to be as un cool as a certain Blue and white social media site.

Now of course this is a huge generalisations off gen-Z based on works wide trends and data collected by a number of orgs. And that there will always be that one person where what I written is as unusual as a tandori in a kabab shop.

There were dating agencies, you sent letters with photo's, it's how we met . Then there were contact magazines (old version of Fab!), again you sent a letter and photo and waited a week or more for a reply.

My wonder years started a bit earlier than that, probably 1980, but I know what you mean. By 1985, my first wife and I had had our first threesomes, explored an open marriage, found a reliable source of VHS porn videos and were shagging ourselves stupid when we weren't shagging someone else. It was a great time and I look back to it a lot.

Nope.

Didn't do any of that at all. Never been clubbing or to a rave and never had the opportunity to travel.

Started work in 1984 on £40 a week but had too many responsibilities to even consider any of the above and sex wasn't an option either.

It was an awesome time. Was in the clubs at 13 and there were rock, goth, alternative nights in london most nights. Now they run monthly at the weekend. Left home at 16 had my own business selling vintage clothing in Camden Market which I'd get from jumble sales. Got to see so many great bands and tons of awful ones as it was always someone's friends band playing somewhere. Lived across the road from the skate park so got to skate and hangout with friends. Had the most coolest best friend/flat mate in the world and everyone crashed at our place. Tattoos were affordable and all the guys had prince Albert's back then.
