I don't think they are
The fact you use the word 'commodity' does however provide at least one potential explanation as to why you may be struggling to find one that is willing to meet you. |

Fully aware of that fact, just not sure your use of it here will be interpreted as you perhaps intended.
Such a reference may work against you in finding who you seek. That is all I was suggesting.

To rephrase what I think the other poster was saying:
Ladies of any age do not like to be referred to as a commodity. Which is akin to saying there are not many boxes of cereal on the shelf in the supermarket this week.
It could be viewed as degrading and make some feel as if there are in a meat market situation. |

By definition cougars are predators not prey.
Trans: a true cougars will find you if she wants you.
Though this is not really a suitable watering hole, i suggest you try the sites that have cougar or milf in the name then wiggle your assets whilst whistling and looking the other way. |

No he isn't, he is saying that no woman whatever her age likes to be referred to as a commodity, it's impersonal, demeaning and says a great deal about your attitude. It is the attitude implied by your use of the word that will stop you getting meets, not the actual use of it. |

If you were to put "women are a rare commodity" in a Google search, I am sure a number of posters (but probably not all) would re-think their vitriol attack. Sure it is an expression not many would be familiar with and in this instance it has created confusion and a gut reaction due to lack of knowledge.
I am a woman and I only speak for myself not in the name of all women; I don't feel the OP's use of the expression "women are a rare commodity" is in any way shape or form offensive probably because in my mother tongue as well as in yours it does not have the meaning you assumed!
To answer the OP's statement; - I thought was the aim of posting in forums - you will find that there are plenty of 50+ ladies on this site but not all of them are 'cougars'! A word in my opinion that is far more damaging and disparaging to women of a 'certain' age.  |

I find both the term cougar and commodity insulting. I would find the phrase "bisexual women are a rare commodity" or "blonde women are a rare commodity" just as insulting. I don't like being referred to as "the wife" either. Women or men no matter what their age or what web site they belong to are not commodities. |

You need to say something along those lines in your profile. I'd concur with the advice given above.
There's a scene in The Empire Strikes Back when Han is on the TaunTaun looking for Luke. You're in a similar position, out in the cold on the planet Hoth, looking for an older woman. What does Han do? Could you transfer those movie techniques to real life? Works for me.

on the Strange sex programme last week the definition of a Cougar was, a woman in her 40's who dates men at least 8 years younger than them.
The younger men who like older women are known as Cubs.
There was a women who was 73 who went on a date with a 33 year old man.
