excuses not to meet

We have had messages off a couple in fab they we ask if they are free to meet they say yes we reply ok when and then they don't answer at all so bloody frustrating |

I used to smoke (still do sometimes), I don't mind meeting smokers or non smokers.
That being said, I hate smokers that haven't bothered to at least brush their teeth after a fag... |

if they were smokers, perhaps they'd feel uncomfortable around non smokers or maybe feel they don't want to have to refrain from smoking so they don't upset you. Either way, it's called preference and just move on. Don't let it bother ya  |

Arranged a meet with a woman off here once, then she messaged on the day of the meet to say she had found someone closer  best thing about it was that she messaged me the next day to tell me he didn't show  |

Im a non-smoker and met up with this guy, we were just chatting for a bit abt ourselves and then he said you dont meet smokers? so I said no, he then said well I smoke bit but you never guessed. I had no idea he smoked, so it can be covered up by teeth cleaning etc. My reason is not just because I dont like it, but cant go home smelling of smoke |

I understand it's about what one prefers. and I understand, as everyone always says on here, it's all about preferences. but I think it's also interesting, sometimes, to discuss reasons for preferences, like discussing reasons for taste in art. not always of course; we don't have the time or inclination for that. but I thought that having a cigarette (sorry for using a rather outdated term) during the meet would be the reason.
if the reason is fear of feeling uncomfortable in one's own home, that's also understandable - although the potential meet should have noticed that the other smokes; and many non-smokers either were once smokers or occasional smokers, and wouldn't mind the smoke.
it might well not just be an excuse, but it seems many people here have their doubts. |

I had a guy tell me he was ill (10mins before we were due to meet i may add) Then about 3 hours later he sent me a text saying the guys in the pub have gone off to a club so can he come round after all... My reply was Fuck and off!! Funny he never messaged me again! |

I find it funny as in my experience, my profile states I am a smoker, I am very considerate (I like to think) and always clean teeth and use mouthwash before they come in, as well as dousing the house in air freshener!! But they all follow me into the kitchen when I try and leave them in a fresh smelling living room, so I can have a smoke, no idea why, maybe because by that time we're naked, what do you think? |

Weird we dont mind meeting smokers but its their personal preference i guess!
Weve had a few now, the usual i dont have the car today/now (usually an hour before). Second most common is theyve had road accident on the way to us and then their grandmother is ill and they need to go take care of her or granny has died 20 mins before.. (we get loads of grandmothers dying too now that i think about it  ).

I once had a single woman who i was due to meet, change her mind because when i had rung her to confirm details on her mobile, she had a knock at her door as she was talking to me.
This was apparently a sign i that couldn't be trusted as she believed in coincidences. She ignored my(perfect 5 star feedback on the other site im on)and gave that as the reason she had changed her mind. I actually burst out laughing on the phone as she was telling me this, as it was the worst excuse ive ever heard. |

Neither did i. Basically i had previously phoned her on her mobile to chat to her, and at the same time her landline phone rang, so she said she'd ring back Anyway we had arranged a meet, and i was ringing the day before to confirm it, and she had a knock at the door at the same time as i was chatting to her on the phone.
Cut a long story short, i got a message saying she had changed her mind about meeting because everytime i rang her, something happened(knock at door, phone call etc), and to her this was a sign that im not to be trusted. |

In my case there were no excuses, the couple who were coming to may place sent me a text message at the time they were due to arrive saying "Can't make it!", never heard from them again. |

Alot of these problems would not happen if peeps met first at socials, whether one on one or the group stuff. So much easier to suss out attraction and handle nerves at a social. |

Think a lot of people here missing the point, really dont mind rejection, sex without the 'click' not worth it. Totally agree everyone has a choice, no question, my point is why do people make daft, stupid, so obviously false excuse rather than just say no thanks. Cant be easier through messaging surely |

the thing been they were very straight with you so really cant see your problem, they made it clear they only want to meet smokers, cant see why you would want to start a thread about it. |

I had one who was "helping his brother to move his bed" - text came thru while I was already at the meeting place and he expected me to hang around for "a couple of hours" till he was finished!!! Errrrr.....NO! Lol |

Sorry but in ur opinion it was a false excuse , a lot of smokers prefer not to meet non smokers so they can if they wish light up and feel comfortable about doing so , the point being its a real reason to them , you just have to accept it , there are many many reasons people give that are far more verging on false than wont meet a smoker or non smoker. |

Being on a period is a perfectly valid excuse. I don't mind playing when on but a lot of guys do not like it and I have no problem with that. But I always warn them as I do not want to waste anyone's time. That way they can make a choice. Whichever way they decide I do not mind. |

had many excuse, my ex has dumped my kid on me, my car has broke down, my friends gran died, my friends have come round, my flatmate is here so I dont want to meet or my mum has shown up or needs me to do something,and the best one was I have bought some flat pack furniture and need to build it wtf? also had the dont want to meet anymore as I have started to see someone, only to still see them on here and trying to arrange meets x |
