I've searched the forums past topics but cant find anything recent!
Is there still socials being organised in the SW or Bristol and what are they? Like a munch? An afternoon in a pub etc?

dont know about Bristol socials never heard of one but why dont you organise one locally. We have one in Swansea, one in Cardiff and one in Newport. And all are brilliant. North have them as well. Go into your local chat rooms and ask the members they will be able to tell you xxx |

I believe the Bristol Munch was always posted on another site. Very popular in the past, the changing nature of swinging has led to Munches being less viable then they once were.
That said, there are loads of socials advertised all over the country in the meets section, just keep an eye out. Or arrange your own. |

I only know of munches being BDSM socials! However, I could be wrong "
Thats what i thought in the OP i was just trying to see if they are the same kind of thing as a munch-people getting together at a pub and chatting for an afternoon/evening? |

When I first joined a swinging website, munches were held roughly 2 or 3 times a year, they were huge events, strictly for members of the website, that had requested attendance. They were usually in closed venues, with around 150/200 guests.
Smaller socials were held throughout the year, and were at a smaller venue, usually not totally exclusive. People could bring friends from other sites, as long as the organiser agreed.
Swinging has moved on it that time, and now exclusive munches don't happen in the swinging world, usually it is just socials, and they are increasingly being held in clubs, which I personally don't agree with. |

This is my experience too.
And I have a similar view on the fact that socials are increasingly just club nights, though I can understand why.
Munches are thriving on the BDSM scene but seem pretty much extinct on the swinging scene. |

There was social held about 3 times in north London last year. I attended 2of them and thoroughly enjoyed them. Unfortunatly the organisers have been too busy to arrange more. I like socials. You can connect with people you might not of through just a website. |

god i am going to sound really old now...
yes they do call swinging socials "munches"... but back in the day (god I know I was going to sound old!) they were the most grand of events... people use to go from all over the country... and you had upwards of 200-300 people turning up...
they would literaly be 5/6 a year... spread thru out the year... you could almost do a calander...
nottingham/bristol/manchester/glasgow/essex/wigan/doncaster and laterly newcastle (organised by someone I know well... me!!! lol)
in most of them we basically booked out a pub (for example nottingham was a 3 level pub closed to just us on a saturday night.... )
in the end the local socials killed off the super grand munches because the new people where less inclined to travel.... which is a huge shame because they will never realise the weekends that people made of them....... |

they were..... and to be honest I wish in a way they would come back..
i thought about doing one in leeds (somewhere central to everyone) and did voice opinions around the various local rooms to see if people outside the local area would go....
nothing...
the feeling I got is that people are reluctant to travel anymore.. and they don't mix..
all well with the forums, the chatrooms, the people from the north west dont talk to the yorkshire room, who in turn don't talk to the north east, who don't talk to the scots...
the welsh do there own thing, there midland people as well...
so you get the situations where socials not that far apart.. two different crowds... same night.... which is a shame!
i remember times we all use to come down on a friday night, or a saturday morning... pre drinks in the afternoon, party in the night, hotels rooms block booked 50-100. so we had floors or blocks to ourselves, then going out for brekkie as a big group on the sunday mornings......
but i suppose as people have said.. times have changed.... shame.... |

I'm still friends with some of the people I met at my first ever swinging munch. I think it was a Nottingham one. As Fabio said, 3 floors of swingers, nearly everyone was really friendly. I remember one woman in a chain mail dress and nothing underneath, I was so gobsmacked, spent most of the night with my mouth hanging open in disbelief. 2 years later I met that woman again, she's still a friend to this day.
I really miss them. I can't understand why they still work in BDSM, but they just don't happen in swinging anymore. Maybe something to do with costs, maybe because the community isn't there anymore for most people. |

When the first ever (I believe) swingers munch was organised in London the idea was that they would be run basically the same as a BDSM munch, very inclusive. The idea was bastardised by that other site and they were instead made very exclusive. People were having to jump through hoops just to get invited, not the idea behind them at all. |

I'm glad I appeared on the scene just before these started dying out.My first one was a Herts Tarts where I suspect I met you for the first time. But I remember the pre-drinks and the fact that it was a weekend not just a night out.
And therein i think lies the problem, I think the economy is what has driven the change and people just cant afford it. |

The Lodge holds a "social" every Weds night from 7.30pm and it is just that, a social. We also hold a Fetish Monster Munch first sunday of every month which is a play social. Contact me for details if required .  |

Survivior of three of the five HT munches including the one where we took over the river cruiser for the night! Brilliant Munches as was the second Munch I ever attended when we had the run over two floors of a pub in Wakefield for a Halloween themed Munch! And like Fabio said, yes we would travel the length and breadth of the country to attend! Brilliant times!  |

Going to add that it can be very hit and miss finding out what`s happening on this site as large socials get mixed up with all of the "chancers" looking for a meet. Unless there`s a large amount of people posting on that social then it dissapears quite quickly, either that or it`ll get posted in the "area" sections and missed by those who might have otherwise attended. |

Am I not habitually late? I was late for the munch I organised at Pinks and the camden socials that were 5 minutes from my flat!
I have no real recollection of that night but that has triggered some flashbacks!
I have some great memories of harry Jones being my bondholders and remembering no ones names! |

I think this is very true. If the site differentiated it might help but I'mnot sure how it could be policed. |
