MAMOBA, miles and miles of bugger all (Aberdeenshire) |
Now, I was reading a thread on here, and someone said that swingers are at a higher risk of STIs than non-swingers because we have a higher number of partners.
Now I haven't gone googling to check facts, but I think this would be nonsense.
Most of the swingers I know are very clued up on sexual health, the vast majority are safe, and its not about notches on the bedpost - quality not quantity!
Personally, I have had significantly fewer sexual partners than many of my vanilla friends - a few friends have lost count!
Also, I've never done the pulling a random on a night out for a sexual encounter, because even pre-fab, I had a small circle of trusted friends who would play.
Do you think its a common perception that swinging is about high numbers of sexual partners?
Maybe I am the prudish one by not sleeping around, but I am quite proud I can name every guy and lady I've ever slept with, and know exactly how many partners I have had.
Thoughts folks...? I'm just interested to hear |

I'd say that was someone outside the swinger lifestyle not knowing! A lot of outsiders think our life is like a giant orgy! Like you say I'd say a swinger vs average 15-25 yr old single, it would be far in favour of the single catching stuff! It's a bit like bdsm if someone mentions it to someone vanilla the first response is oh I don't like pain or I'm not into whips and chains! |

That was a comment from someone here on the site, in the forum! |

anyone can be at risk depends who you have had sex with as well.
you might have sex with a man who hasnt had sex with anyone else except for his wife, some men you meet might not have had that many partners.
i think most swingers have sex with more people though when you are young you are more likely to have sex when you are d*unk, you dont know anything about them or you dont remember anything afterwards. |

Statistically every time you have sex can catch an STD, and the more partners you have the logic follows the greater that risk so the original premise has some logic
However that doesn't mean all swingers have a higher risk, as has been said some young people pull every night out and use no protection, their risk is clearly high, some swingers stay within a known group who, if negative are likely to stay that way
So it's one of those population stats that are interesting maybe but have very lite relevance on an individual basis |

One of my non swinger friends is at it all the time the lucky bitch!
But maybe not so lucky in the long run i know she is not always safe and most the time d*unk....she has had a few pregnancy scares,so could possibly have a sti.
I always play safe but admittedly have decided on bareback with a couple of people over the years, but have regular checks and know those i have have also. |

All depends on what some peoples idea of 'swinging' is.
Seems that a lot of people think of it as -find a partner, shag them, move on to next victim- which is why so many are disappointed in the site and come on here asking for advices as to why they havent had 'any luck' and they have been members for 3 weeks.
Dont agree with the idea that swingers are more likeley to have STI's at all, they are much more concious and responsible than given credit for. x |

i don't think its down to lifestyle whether you are of a promiscuous disposition , its totally down to self control of the individual{s} and your attitude to your own and prospective partners well being :though being of an age when it wasn't prevalent to be careful, i admit i must've dodged a bullet or ten lol |

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum |
I think people are people, regardless of whether they swing or not. Some will take a risk, some will not. To say swingers are at a higher or lower risk of STIs is not proven or provable. |

makes sense to me
if ur fucking more people than avg who in turn are fucking more people than avg and so on, ur open to higher risk regardless of safe sex |

We both used to be 'promiscuous' when young, plenty of one-on-one partners and usually bareback as most females took the pill, like R. That was probably more dangerous than the way we swing today, but you're right, vanilla people think it's all no-condom orgying. |

"Sexually active people are at higher risk...full stop!
Nothing to do with swinging...."
Only if all other parameters were the same, such as protection etc. Frequency is only a small part of equation.
If I were to receive unprotected anal sex from 1 highly active male, I would consider myself to be at greater risk than 10 'safe-sex' encounters with females.
Equally, an unprotected encounter with an active female, would probably put me more at risk than 10 safe-sex encounters. |

Know exactly what you mean....
But unprotected sex never even entered my head
But to say swingers are a higher risk is nonsense....

not really. It's just to unfair to just single out swingers. As of course we are more at risk if having more partners. Safe or not it's still a higher risk.
The greedy girls like myself I guess are at the higher end, however you can not really say it's nonsense
however I took far more risks before I swung. Just where as then it was maybe three guys in a week, now it's a few more. but I used to never go safe. So guess I'm safer now.
