I have noticed an increase in headlines stating people are skint, need more money etc etc. Is this due to the financial situation or ate they making subtle hints that they are prostitutes willing to accept cash for sex |

"I have noticed an increase in headlines stating people are skint, need more money etc etc. Is this due to the financial situation or ate they making subtle hints that they are prostitutes willing to accept cash for sex " I'm always skint, probably due to the rise in the cost of living and no pay rise for 4 yrs ,does that make me a prostitute? |

I would guess not in most cases. I think it's more a case of putting stuff out there on forums etc without any real thought about how the statement might be perceived.
I had a blunt one last week ... Lad staight out asked for cash for bj ... now that's prostitution (yes ... was reported) |

I think we're in a recession mate - for many, that means times are hard.
There are of course those who are immune to these things ...usually those who created the mess in the first place |

Nope, I've seen a few Profiles (mostly newbies) that put updates stating "Skint/Do anything for money".
Whilst its true that we all face harsher economic struggles & have to help one another out (not trample those less well off whilst rewarding bankers with bailouts, help millionaires avoid tax, spend money on Inquiries & not act on them, penalise those with an "extra" bedroom when we don't have enough one bedroom housing anyway... I could go on) I do find the not so subtle updates on here disturbing.
My choice was to become self-employed after I lost my job. It's not glamorous or going to make me rich but at least I'm doing what I can without turning to the state who wouldn't help me anyway.
Back to the OPs point... The choice is down to the individual to report these to Admin & let them handle it, block them or simply ignore the updates.
Anyone else got a _iewpoint on these? |

Government are changing the benefits system, but haven't starting taxing 'friends with benefits' yet, so we could be tax exempt xxxx |

Peoplw have friends on here and sometimes the status updates are used much like those on FB.
The word 'skint' is something we can really reate to at the moment, in a very very big way but I'd never be desperate enough to offer my 'services' for cash. My bank balance may be low but my self respect isn't. |

Blimey!!! I thought I was cynical!
I just see it as a sign of the times, people feeling the need to share the minutiae of their lives with all and sundry via social media et al!
I also think it tells would be meets they don't have extra cash for hotels etc...didn't think it was code for "on the game!" |

really?
I'm a single mum so being skint is a permanent state of affairs in this house. I can't work at the moment, but would never sell myself for sex, or expect payment for it - and if I meet, I will pay my share. Respect doesn't have a price tag! |

some are very clever and play it via updates for the sympathy ploy. |

I don't generally tell the world at large fairly intimate stuff about me, apart from what's on my profile.
Not everyone's like this, some seem to suffer from verbal diarrhea, whether speaking or communicating in written form.
I'd not assume that those of us who are short of cash from time to time are escorts, it's too likely to draw attention to themselves, so it's more likely those looking for attention/sympathy, I'd guess.

I have no idea why anyone would want to advertise their financial status all over the internet
And even if they are mad enough to disclose such private information I don't see any correlation to prostitution.

Agreed 100%. Furthermore, if people feel the need to broadcast such info to a specific person/ group of people, then there is a robust and perfectly working private messaging system in place.
Some of the status messages i see make me facepalm. |

Fair enough, but this isn't Facebook, on fb your status is only read by friends, on here anyone can read it, which can lead to miss interpretation |

Yep, £600 every month, and after I've paid all my other bills, I'm left with roughly £400-500 to play with. But outgoings are easily over a grand a month, sucks majorly!! |

The biggest mistake parents make is buying things for their kids, if you want something in life you work for it yourself, and that's the attitude I've always had towards things. Cars/insurance/holidays, always came out of my pocket, because I wouldn't expect my parents to pay for that stuff. |
