I have suffered for years! Depends on how bad you feel, sometimes there is nothing you can do, apart from find a position you are comfortable in, not great advise I know, but there really isn't much you can do! |

Sounds like sciatica. Very painful! Check with your GP when you can though if the pain persists beyond tomorrow - don't rely on amateur medics on here (or Dr Google). Your back is too precious to mess around with. |

"At the gym yesturday working out, today i bent diwn and had a massive pain in lower back with shooting pains down my legs... Dunno what to doo "
I think you need to speak to a medical person, does your area have an out of hours GP service? It might be that you just need painkillers and gentle movement or painkillers and rest but only someone who knows about these things can tell you.
I do know about them from personal experience (I have a titanium implant in my spine) and my advice is don;t mess about with backs.
Hope you feel better soon

Sounds like you have hurt your back at the gym and today it let go.
I have the same problem. Work all day and a day or so later doing something so random just sets it off.
Over the years i have seen chiropractors ostios physios and nothing. They all did nothing for me.
I now see a sports and remedial specialist massure and it took a little while but she sorted the problem out that i had had for 10 years.
Well worth looking into. see if there is one in your area |

But like I have said, there is not much you can do! You can take pain killers until it settles down, and yes I have suffered for 20 years and only had my first xray last year! I suffer from sciatica which you can only manage when it stikes by pain killers, if your back goes into spasm, then yes go to the doctor (or should I say he/she will have to come to you!) for something stronger!
If it persists, I can only suggest a good osteopath! Sorry, for not being able to give a quick solution |

As others have said it sounds like sciatica.
Anti-inflammatries ad painkillers in the short term and maybe uses ice and heat packs. But get to a GP and/or osteopath ASAP |

When you've had pins and needles alternating with total numbness for over 2 months then it really does your head in!

Good, glad to hear it! I know I don't always take my own advise, but the more mobile you can be will help, but only walking etc, nothing major! Just take it easy, I've tried both hot and cold methods, sometimes they help, other times bugger all!
Even if you don't go to the doctor (and tbh unless in major and I mean major pain)Don't bother, but definately mention it when you do next go, as always good to have it on record in case it happens repeatedly! |

When zed had sciatica he went to a chiropractor who suggested anti inflammatory pills and also to try getting into the foetal position (draw knees up to chest) to stretch the nerve out.
Obviously don't try this without seeing a doc first to confirm it's a suitable method of relieving the discomfort - I don't want to be sued lol |

I get sciatica , whenever I get warning signs , for me it's like someone is running their fingers up my spine, I take the 400 milligram Ibuprofen that you can order over the counter .

I have two prolapsed discs, osteopetrosis, arthritis and bilateral sciatica.
Be careful if you have pain, rest up until you have seen your GP. Dont lift anything heavy and make it worse.
Anti inflammatories dont make you as tired as narcotic pain relief or benzos. If the doc gives you tablets, tell him you didnt take the others and why so he can find an alternative.
Good luck. |

Pain below the knee is normally considered as a something warranting investigation. Are you passing water ok? no delay in starting stream or sensation of bladder not empty when finished? Any issue with passing water and you have a medical emergency and should go to a&e NOW. Water issue could be that when you wrenched your back you also nipped nerves in lower back which control bladder. If not sorted quickly can lead to permanent issues with bladder control. |
