I had one of my nipples pierced many years ago. Unfortunately last summer i had to take it out and it closed up. I'm now wondering about getting it re-pierced but wondering what the general consensus is on nipple piercings for women, and is there a preference as to what is in, bar or ring?

Bar whilst it's healing - rings move more and the wound takes longer to heal.
Leave the bar in for over a year. Have the bar size adjusted by your piercer (aftercare is included in the price with reputable piercers) if you have issues with swelling or lymph leakage.
I love mine - I wish I had more nipples so I could do them again and again!

i knocked it quite bad whilst we were on holiday which is why i had to take it out and it seemed to heal really quick. id had it done for 8years, so was surprised it had healed so quick.
thought i wouldn't mind it not being there any more but starting to wonder if i quite miss it now |

Had to take mine out a few weeks ago as I had cut the piercing opening somehow. The first time its been out since I had it done when my son was born... 18 years ago.
Its still out and the nipple is huge compared to the other one lol. |

You can have them re-done, G caught one on a bathroom door and tore it out, and it healed up and was re-pierced later.
Best to have them done quite deep, if they are close to the end of the nipple they might 'migrate' out. Bar until healed, then anything you want. Coloured titanium circular barbells with large balls are sexy! Titanium is much less heavy but cost a bit more. |

Think I'm def going to have a look into getting it redone.
Iv got loads of bars still from when it was last done, be a shame to see them go to waste.
Plus when Gray was sucking my nipples early, I would have loved to feel his tongue playing with the bar again |

I (Bonnie) have both of mine pierced and love them. One came out in bed one night as the ball somehow came off and was quite difficult to put back in...ouch! |

I love mine, I had it in for 9 months, then took it out to breast feed for a year. I re-pierced it with a normal ear ring when I stopped breast feeding.
I switch mine out, bar, ring, glow in the dark bars and a variety of things, It's fun |

I have had both pierced for years and love them, I have a bar in one and ring in the other. I would disagree with the bar making it easier to heal. With a ring there is more movement so makes it easier to clean and stops any yucky bits migrating into the 'wound' Just my personal opinion though. x |

I've heard about people re-piercing with a normal earing, wondered if i could do it, but the hole has completely healed over so cant do that.
Having both pierced sounds kinda hot. I wonder if i could cope with that tho, i love nipple play and mine can get quite sensitive as it is, when i had my piercing in it was even more sensitive to the point where it couldn't always be touched so if I had them both done i might miss out |

Sara had one of hers done but has now taken it out, she had it done and it took ages to heal well over a year, she then knocked it and it kept giving her grief to the point where it was hurting her a lot of the time. i loved it but i don't want her in pain so she wouldn't have it done again |

I had one nipple pierced with a ring & ball, over 12 years ago. Had it taken out 2 weeks ago and it's closed up already Not sure if I'll have it re-done, I can still remember the pain the first time round! lol |

Keep thinking about getting mine done but people say its one of the most painful ones to get. My frenum piercing was easy and didn't really hurt. Nipples take ages to heal and since i go swimming a lot it would be a hindrance |

I don't remember the pain being that bad. When they did the actual piercing they numbed mine, it was only after that it started to get uncomfortable but nothing that some paracetamol wouldn't cure.
I was even at at concert that night so it couldn't have been that bad I suppose.
6weeks healing time seems about norm, was same for me, just puzzled as to why mine healed over so quick when others don't. I must have knocked it harder than I thought and done some damage to it. |

Mine healed almost immediately, after never being removed in 13 years! The day it was pierced, I vividly remember knocking it, and the blood that shot across the room!!
THAT'S what's putting me off having it re-done. lol |
