I received a "friend invite" from a couple I'd contacted and spoken to on the phone. I clicked to accept the invitation and Lo....I was blocked. Why do people do that?

Just surmising. Hence the question mark. Its possibly because the OP is Bi? Bi-curious men can get cold feet quite quickly. Women know what a man is and if they have chosen to meet will not find anything odd about it.

But, hey ho, we will never know.

Durham Tees

Perhaps they have forgotten you are one of the types they have an automatic block on with filters, eg non verified, newbie, no public photos etc.

Interesting views above. As the OP, it's all a bit academic since the couple concerned have chosen to hide their profile from me (while inviting me as a friend) so I don't know what their filters were/are !
