Yeah, I think that's a bit rude. Why would everyone know where everywhere is, especially if you're from a small town.
But if you ask me "where are you *really* from?" you can expect a much frostier answer. |

No but you can narrow it down to a compass point and area if they really have no idea where major towns are. We usually say "on the south coast" |
