So we are looking to host our first party at our home. Looking for a bit of advice (as a host) on how to have a successful party!
Advice on your previous experiences would be good so we can host a great party

Haven't been to or held a party myself, been to some well organised socials though so i suspect similar things would apply. As said a good mix of people can make or break a party; as hosts be prepared to engage with lots of people; have something to break the ice...oh, and as it's your home, ensure everybody understands the do's and dont's |

Hi guys and thanks for the messages. Had some great advice from a couple who emailed us
Appreciate all your advice and will be taking everything into account.
Hide anything breakable - lol that seems very sensible
We do not smoke ourselves so would not be setting a smoking room aside. It is a good idea but not our thing.
Thanks again guys keep it coming |

For me, the key to a good house party is to make it ABSOLUTELY CLEAR that no-one is pressured to play. Make sure that there is a male co-host on hand, who will stay sober, and chuck out anyone who starts getting too pushy.
Other than that, some icebreaker games, a few nibbles, and a 'donations' tin, and you're sorted!
Have a great party! |

We're by no means experts but we've hosted a couple of times and found larger numbers can result in cliques and smaller groups seperating out and apart from each other. Think very carefully about numbers. As always you can expect one or two to not turn up so another thing to think about. |
