Depending on whether the first message caught my eye (and the person had read my profile) would make the difference as to my response. After a few messages, occasionally a one word response can be fine as I often like to have the last word in a conversatioon  |

I sometimes send short replies, it might be that I don't fancy the person and am too polite to say. It could also be ambivalence or the busy/interested ratio is not in their favour.
I would say that if you don't get a very encouraging response do your best to describe yourself, if that doesn't work then move on.

You're right, it is very frustrating when you're trying to get a conversation and they make such a half hearted effort, especially if it was because they had a well written profile that encouraged you to message them in the first place. |

Cut and Paste is the easiest and oldest trick! I look for profiles that are personal, well written and original. I am fussy and selective but I have not been disappointed so far. Game on? Want a wink?  |

Not being funny, but at least we have a SLIGHT chance of building a rapport with even one word answers. We have NO chance whatsoever if they get deleted!

Normally would agree, but have recently been on the receiving end of what the OP is describing, and it is totally off putting to say the least.
It makes it all the harder to gauge interest levels of the other party, and makes conversation tedious and incredibly difficult. |

point illustrated , the question is ,ok a rare bite how much time does one waste ? Is she genuine ?is she a he ? Is it at work on phone busy . How many shite answers does one tolerate ? I realise some nice normal ladies think this is acceptable because they are busy but how many articulate genuine men do they miss ? |

Well, as i said mate, a SLIGHT chance for a rapport! If it isn't working, then just tell them that and move on! Why waste time pursueing a conversation with a lass if shes not interested/making the effort? I had thought that actually, copy and pasted profiles - I've heard of picture theft before but rarely theft of a profile. |

Not really a question that can be answered in my opinion, as one answer will my apply to all, maybe some women do get a little above their stations on here and expect guys to make all the effort but not all of them, maybe some are replying to half a dozen guys at once so just sending on quick reply's to all to get thro them so as not to be called ignorant for not replying at all, there could be lots of reasons and not all will be bad ones
Even talking for myself I cant give one answer, sometimes I have given shit answers and that's not always for the same reason, sometimes it could be because im loosing interest, sometimes it could be because im at work on my phone so just send something to show im reply and interested with the intention of sending a better reply later when I get home only to find by then ive been blocked lol or it could be I genuinely am struggling to keep a conversation going, not everyone is easy to talk to on here |

Or maybe they are a couple, and decide together who they want to meet so wait for other half of partner to get home from work so they can BOTH decide who they meet??
