I wear a pineapple pin on my lapel sometimes, and if I'd be up for chatting with someone, I turn it upside down. Nobody has seemed to notice, or if they did, my mug put them off talking.

I eat a lot of pineapple, but always forget to prop it upside down in the basket/trolley
