Public sauna over 18
Jump to: Newest in thread
Some years ago the wife and I were members of our local leisure centre gym. The sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were swimwear required except for single sex sessions and a couples only session. We were a bit late one day and were in the sauna when the couples session started. This guy came in the sauna naked. He had a ring through his knob end and one in his scrotum with a chain connecting them. It made me wince!

Why should it, it's perfectly normal. Everyone has a body. There's nothing shameful about it, even if some people/cultures/countries do seem to struggle in differentiating nudity from sex. Go to somewhere like Germany and it's completely normal. |

There is a strict etiquette observed in Germany. There is no perving permitted in mixed saunas and many places have sauna masters to ensure that rules are adhered to, keeping it non-sexual. |

I spent a fair part of my working life in Sweden. There it was extremely unusual to see someone in a sauna wearing a costume. Regardless of age or gender the norm was to be naked.
It had nothing to do with sex what so ever. |

Those naked people would probably be us. We're naturist in the vanilla world. Not only is public nudity not a issue to us the very idea of wearing clothing in a sauna or pool or wet spa area seems totally illogical and bizarre. Wearing swimwear in a sauna is just daft, like turning yourself into a human boil in the bag.
It's sad that our society is so hung up about social nudity. Especially in environments such a spa's or the beach or on a hot summers day where clothing/swimwear is just illogical. Bodies are normal, yet we seem so scared of them in our society. And because we wrap them I mystique and sexualise them we make them taboo and this turns something that should be completely a non issue in to something unpleasant.
I haven't got a problem with people wearing what they want in a sauna. I just wished that freedom of choice extended to the option to be nude in a society mature and grown up enough to accept nudity as normal, natural and a non-issuse. |

Blame the Victorians. Along with the increase in religious fervour came a change in the views about morality.

"If you see completely naked people in sauna would it put you off?"
No! Why should it?
We go to naturist spas which usually include saunas and steam rooms and love it. It's our winter naturist fix. |

I wish we had them in the UK and the attitude to being naked wasn't so prudish!
I've been naked I saunas in Germany, Sweden and Poland. Most of the big spas have a textile free area. I find it so liberating. |

No not at all.
I find nudity and the very slight possibility of fun in a public sauna a massive turn on. The mystery of whether there will be somebody to play with and risk of getting caught really gets be revved up.
Sadly there’s no saunas that I know of in the UK that offer nudity, other than swingers venues etc. 15yrs ago my local leisure centre did single sex and mixed clothing optional, now even in single sex sessions clothing is mandatory. |

Sadly the fear of or actual incidents of improper behaviour in a public sauna if a factor that effects so many places decisions not offer such sessions. Which is very sad. Stopping nude sessions doesn't stop inappropriate behaviour by the way. However from personal experience sadly nudity seems to give some more of a green light to be improper. Its like some people dont understand a nude space is just a textile space without cloths. So what behaviour or activity is inappropriate in a textile space is equally inappropriate in a naturist space. Some people just dont get that. Then you mix that with the already unhealthy and prejudice attitudes of the general public towards social nudity you can see why public facilities look to remove such options for what they feel is safe guarding and reputational reasons.
Although what turns you on isn't something I personally understand I respect your desires as I guess we should all each others. This turns you on and as a fantasy is absolutely no problem. However like many other fantasies they should either stay in the realms of fantasy or be re-enacted only in an appropriate space. My problem is when people put acting out their own kinks with disregards for other people or spaces. You can surely see how problematic it is to have people improperly using these spaces or just the knowledge of such people undermining peoples perception of safety in such spaces/sessions.
Nudity is not the problem, people's desires are not the problem. The problem is when people selfishly impose their desires into a naturist space where it is not appropriate. And it's that inappropriate behaviour that makes people feel unsafe, shines a negative light on Naturist and drives facilities to stop providing Naturist sessions (as well as the occasional angry mob).
BTW absolutely no problem with mixing swinging and naturism. There's a fair few of us who enjoy both and it doesn't need to be mutually exclusive. However the key is doing this in an appropriate space. Public facilities or anywhere you may effect others is not an appropriate space. A general naturist space is completely the same as a general textile space. What's inappropriate in a general textile space doesn't become appropriate in a space where people are naked. |
