"I've not heard of a female killer on any dating apps etc"
I see.
I would make several points.
I'm not sure this is what the gov.uk service is intended for.
A murderer would use someone else's driving licence.
Women can be killers.
Men in couples can also be killers.

Very true, women can be killers, and guys send them face and dick pics every day.
The website does say it's for you to share your information with those who may need it.
So a group or club ask you for your ID, licence and passport, we pay the fee and hand it over.
Would we be willing to use this web service that gives the same info?

Would have to understand where it would go but first impression is No Fucking Way! Been to many socials and organised some and also private parties and never ever heard of anyone doing this. Don't even need to hand over ID for all clubs.
Also not sure in what way it would make it safe? And of course couples and ladies post risks as well. Having had a lady threaten me will all sorts if I didn't give her money my personal details not being given out very easily. |

I organise socials and would never ask for this. Could be a gdpr nightmare. Any guy willing to give you the information I would avoid like the plague as he would have to be completely desperate or totally crazy to give a random these details.
Maybe only allow verified people to attend. Restrict the numbers of single males. Or meet interested unverified guys for a quick coffee to suss them out.
Good luck

How does seeing every single guys driving license make the event safe? As you said that there has never been a female killer off a dating app I assume you mean that it will stop any single male killers attending….so if a killer does attend and kills everyone at the event what benefit is it if everyone had seen his driving license? As we’re not in America it’s highly unlikely that someone is going to go somewhere that they know there will be a group of people with the intention of killing everyone or someone there, they’d arrange a one on one meet to do it. If someone is psychotic enough to want to attend a group event and start killing people do you think that being asked to show his driving license will put an end to his plan or do you think he’d probably just get a fake driving license? Mass murderers don’t tend to be the sort of people who follow the rules or who allow minor inconveniences get in their way. |

If you’re planning to host a social event then you’re responsible for the safety of everyone attending that event, if you think that asking every single male attending the event to show everyone else their driving license will keep the event safe then I don’t think you’ve planned it very well, and if you’re using verifications from this site as a sign that someone is completely genuine and safe then you definitely haven’t planned it very well. |

Taken from safety section on FAB which we're guessing not everyone's read lol
If in any doubt, ask to see proof of age and ID.
So you're perfectly correct asking for some kind of ID if unsure on someone. But that would be just for you to see, not the whole social/event.

I think the phrase 'if in any doubt' is the most relevant there. In that case just asking people to bring their driving licence with them would do the trick. That would reassure everyone that their details weren't being recorded for future use elsewhere and allow the organisers to verify that the person was who they say they are. |

Love when reactions about serial killers etc take over.
As pointed out by a moderator (thank you) if you read the original post it's a way of asking for and providing ID for unverified single men, or as you've pointed out for anyone.
We are looking at starting a club and will require ID. We have used out passport and driver licence in the past. This would save you carrying them with you and possibly loosing them.

Very true, I hope the clubs that photocopy ID don't take out a mortgage in my name.

Rather than carrying actual ID this could be an option.
If you don't like the website share just bring the ID to be photocopied.

Is this a social event or a club visit or social at a club? A club is slightly different as some checks in place and it would not be in their interest to misbehave. I read your post as referring to a typical group socials not at a club and ID details going to you or other non-club organisers. Still I would take original to club. |

Just checked and the events you are organising are in a pub so really no need for ID to you. Club is a very different situation. I bet nobody has ever shown ID for a pub social and really achieves nothing |

So we used to run social and play events via a famous kink website and wouldn't collect data like this. We found there was never any need for this for socials, but the way we would have done it is simply restrict the amount of unverified males. The event then will become self policing, what is 1 rogue going to do against a bunch of good guys and girls. They will not let it get out of hand and even the biggest dick head knows 1 against 10 isn't going to work out for them. |

I’m happy to show my ID at a club. I don’t think there’s any need for your information to be shared in the way you are asking nor would I be happy for my ID to be photocopied.
I think if you are asking single guys to do this, you need to ask single women and couples also. Or simple…just don’t allow anyone that’s unverified attend. |

I’m not sure how sharing the code via the site would help with this.
It doesn’t share the photo or all the personal details on the licence, it only shares the driving record - ie what type of vehicle you can drive and any penalty points or disqualifications.

Why should anyone trust you to keep their information safe. It's a social nothing more you're not a club who have to abide by laws. You should too but why should anyone trust you to. Would you be showing your ID to these men and allowing them to keep a photocopy of it ? If not why not ?
It seems very strange to me that anyone holding socials would want to keep photo copies of anyone's ID. Most will meet someone unveried before a social to see if they want them at their event.
I wouldn't want to go to any social where anyone has to do that and knowing how quickly people share info on here it's a massive red flag anyone asking for it also. If you are that nervous of having people with no veris at your social don't allow them to attend.
Plus way too much faith is put on veris and thinking that makes someone safe. I was hassled at a mng for most of a night by a man in a couple who didn't take no for an answer and their veris said he was lovely. I had to leave in the end because of him. |

Nope.
Our personal details are non of your business social or not.
If you are that bothered why not organise the social at a local club see if they will allow you access to the club an hour or two before main business hour's then if any serial killers want to attend at least the club will have their details. |

The answer is a definite no! Apart from the fact that my information is none of your business, handing it over to a stranger is just asking for trouble with a capital T! Under GDPR it is ilegal to keep anyones information without their consent and you would need to prove why you need the information in the first place and prove how you were planning to store the information safely after you have got it. You must destroy all information after you have finished with it in a safe and secure manner. This goes against all common sense. At worst, you should ask that everyone brings a driving lisc or photo id to prove they are who they say they are and at best all you can do is look at it and make sure the pic matches the person presenting it. All you are organising is a social in a pub, you have no right to demand anything, if someone was at the bar having a quiet drink and there eyes met a another pair across the room who just happened to be at your social would you be going up to the stranger and telling him to get lost because he is not verified and not brought his driving lisc. Dont think so? I understand why you are suggesting what you are but you are using a sledgehammer to crack a nut in my opinion. You need to treat everyone the same and cannot rule out unverified single men and expect to be taken seriously. Verifications can be a waste of time because you could get all your pals to verify you or create fake accounts and get them to verify you also. Good luck with your idea but I would suggest you relook at how you think you can make it safe. Not easy but pushing common sense would be a better approach that pushing demands on only a few of the potential participants and singling them out unnecessarily. |

I've attended loads of events at lots of clubs. Never have I showed ID, occasionally you're required to register via fab or you need a couple of verifications to be allowed in.

As someone who has a lady friend who was imprisoned (for self defence as a d*unk woman attacked her out of the blue), she tells me about her fellow inmates in the prison, and there were a few of them who committed seriously fucked up things after meeting people on dating sites. In her words, women can be just as, if not more psychopathic than men. It's just not as reported on as much in the media. |

Self defence is illegal if you do more visible damage to your attacker and is classed as gbh. It's a fucked up system, my friend had bruise marks on her face and a fat black eye, the other girl had a bit of blood on her eyebrow.

When I first read the OP I was annoyed that single guys were being singled out, therefore implying that only single guys (who aren’t verified) pose a threat to anyone. This obviously isn’t the case and I still strongly disagree that unverified single guys should be asked to provide ID and no else needs to and I still strongly disagree that asking people to provide ID makes an event safe.
I have attended night clubs and bars that insist on everyone showing ID on entry that they scan at the door and therefore have an electronic copy, I’ve stayed at hotels that take a photocopy of my passport, so the idea of showing ID for an event and the host keeping a copy isn’t ridiculous and is the sort of thing that happens at other venues.
I think where OP is wrong though is first and foremost saying that only unverified single males need to show ID, if you’re going to do it then you need to do it for everyone, and secondly by assuming that having a copy of everyone’s ID makes the event safe. I’m not actually sure why hotels take a copy of passports but I know that clubs and bars scan IDs so that if something bad does happen then they know exactly who was there at the time, they don’t think that having a copy of the IDs stops anything bad from happening it just means that if something bad does happen it’s a lot easier to identify the culprits and even the victims I guess. Knowing the venue has a copy of their ID may be a deterrent to some people and stop them doing anything bad but it definitely doesn’t stop anything bad ever happening. If only making public venues completely safe was that simple…. |

I'm confused. You say you want it for the socials you are organising. Then further down say you don't want it. It's the clubs that want it. Are your socials in pubs. Or in a swingers club?
Are your socials actually socials or are they club events? |

I used to worry about this too back in my swinging club days in London. You never really knew who were the owners of the clubs actually were and what other business ventures they were involved in.
Is this still a thing that happens? That nerve-wracking 5 mins when you hand over a passport or driving licence to a complete stranger and they disappear to photocopy it. |

Hahaha I would rather avoid such events. Not that desperate.
The OP's assumption is a farce here. Sorry but driving licence won't give you the criminality nature of a guy anyway ,so there must be a different motive to acquire such data.
You provide that in a club but they are protected by GDPR guidelines and can be fined if it's leaked.

But if a couple is 'safe' put Fred & Rose on your block list "
Did Fred have a driving license.? Wayne couzens?
I think it's great to organise socials which are also a great way for the unsafe unverified to become verified and notionally safer, because some strangers have met for 5 minutes and performed a vetting for others. People seem to be questioning the illusion of safety provided by a fab veri or capturing only single mens
ID details. Best of luck with your venture though. |

Any social I've been to in the past when coming back on fab with no verifications has never asked me to show ID to attend.
I don't think as a pub social it should be required to be verified never mind show ID.
Different for clubs. |

If your a single guy would you be willing to use the website below and give the share code for your driving licence?
This would be for guys with no verifications.

If I may ,a couple of questions for you .
Why do you assume all "unverified "single blokes pose a threat to women . ?
When you first joined Fab ,(whem YOU had no verifications),did the people/person you had your first meet with demand a copy of your driving licence before the meet .?

What if they don't have a driving licence, what's next? Passport, ultitly bill? There's something wrong with this on all levels, it's our own responsibility to keep ourselves safe by making smart choices, not to overstep on people's privacy. |

Not a chance in hell.. why don’t you ask for bank details and passport too.. go the whole hog and totally scam someone of everything.. that’s the most ridiculous idea I’ve ever heard |

I don't see the relevance.
So if a guy is verified as in someone has met him but I doubt the person meeting them asked for driving license because quite frankly why woukd they. But because they are verified they are ok and safe and won't cause harm.
But a guy who is not verified would need to prove who he is with a drivers license?? WTAF
Very strange way to arrange a social event in my eyes and like others have said singling guts out as the un safe ones is just silly.
I for one even if I was local wouldn't go
So for that reason "I'm out"! |

As a professional driver, the only person getting my share code is potential enployers checking my licence is legit.
Anyone else needs to see it, they see it in person where i keep an eye on it. |

"
You really do seem to have an issue with unverified single blokes on here .Remember, you were unverified when you joined. Did you supply your driving licence at your first social meet ? |
