So, what separates a fwb from a full on relationship? I know what I want. But find it hard to verbalise. I want the funstuff in an almost date like scenario. Drinks. Odd meal, night/weekend away...But I don't want a long term thing with a "future". I have no intention of changing my current situation
Looking on a dating scene isn't right either though because a more vanilla type physical side isn't going to cut it either.
Does fwb cover it in your opinion?

Interesting take. I think that stuff sounds like more than a FWB. Sounds like a non-commital open relationship type thing.
The few times I’ve had FWB we’ve always kept it strictly platonic outside of the bedroom. No hanging out, no dates, drinks, meals, cuddles etc.
That blurs the boundaries too much |

I struggle with the various terms that describe arrangements that are actual relationships.
To me (this is probably a generational thing) if you meet someone on a regular basis even infrequently you have a relationship. Call it whatever you like but the rules and boundaries of that relationship will be specific to the two of you. |

I suspect I am fairly high maintenance for a fuckbuddy or fwb, but just don't want to mislead anyone that we may run away into the sunset ever...yet one offs don't cut it either...grrr |

I get a lot of people message asking for a friends with benefits situation. The majority say they want sex without the commitment. They don't want to meet the family, or your other friends. Sometimes they do want drinks, meals.
Others have said it's basically just an open relationship, reg meets as and when, no questions asked. |

Yes, because drinks, meals, weekends away are what I do with friends.
I'm lucky to have recently found someone who wants to do that, as well as benefits. But she doesn't want monogamy. |

For me, FWB is exactly that, you're friends and do all the things that you would like go for dinner, spend time etc with the added spice.
If it was just regular sex and nothing else then I'd call that a 'fuckbuddy' for want of a better word!
It's not a relationship until you've had a discussion about exclusivity, future intentions and decided that's what you want it to be.
Sounds like you're pretty honest about what you want so that's the best start! |
