Depends on where they are (as I am sure you know). The ones on my upper arm and thigh hardly hurt at all. My daughter has one on her shoulder blade and she cried most the way through. |

thats like me saying it annoys me when someone asks if something innane annoys me 
of course thats the top queston...you are having a needle pierce your skin a milon times!!!!
as for a blanket 'it doesnt hurt' response above, as a tatooist you must know thats not true unless you use a numbing cream on all your clients? |

My 5th one booked for tuesday, on my ribs this time.
Mine are all hand pushed too, no machines for me...yeah it hurts a bit, but not the worst pain ever  |

The pain doesn't bother me. I've experienced far worse pain on a routine basis, so it's tame (and can be blocked out fairly easily) by comparison; however the last one I had on my chest was pretty sharp and sparkly in a couple of places...

Did mine in 3 sections and the last section took 3 hrs....closer to my spine didnt hurt at all..closer to my ribs got a few little twinges but it wasnt the worst pain ever. By the end of the 3 hrs, I was shivering and shakey though and took the rest of the night to warm up. I think everyone's pain threshold's are different. |

They are a lot less painful than they used to be due to advances in the equipment used. I had some work done on the inside of my upper arm (close to the pit), it was quite bearable but was sore as hell about 15 minutes after I left the shop and had to drive home |

So far they're quite different but will eventually end up combined, my artist has some great ideas for joining them up, the tribal parts are going to morph into Japanese style dragon silhouettes, then into full colour Japanese dragons.The Japanese side will do the opposite and they'll meet/join across my chest... |

i love getting tattooed, and my artist says that im the best sitter hes ever had, had my back done and didnt move until about the 3rd hour, even then it was only cause my feet were going a bit numb.
The girl getting her arm done tho (a love heart the size of a 10p piece) was in tears!

It's the same as going to the dentist, some people absolutely dread it and work themselves right up, if you're tense while you're being tattooed its bound to hurt more. |

I've got just about a full sleeve, a full thigh and some other bits. Some have hurt more than others, 6 hours on the thigh and the insides of my arms was a bitch, but yeah, they all hurt to a certain degree!
SO fed up of people saying 'I love getting tattooed, it just tickles me now'.

That's a ridiculous thing to say! Everyone has a different tolerance to pain, placement and other things factor into it as well. I've got tattoos on my ribs, my calves, arms and hips. Some hurt more than others. 3 hours of line work on my ribs wasn't a walk in the park. |

I've got 9 tattoos on the one I've got up my leg n ankle n foot defo hurt. Shoulders n back didn't or thigh or boob.groin did. You can get numbing creams that make them less painful |
