The whole wink thing is bugging me, we get a few now I've only ever winked back less than a handful (I'm very picky I guess) and all the couples I wink back have never followed up with a message, so what's the point in winking or are they expecting us to message because they winked?

I generally go for the we wink, you wink back, we message and vice versa - so while I sit here patiently waiting messages from the returned winks that'll never come I thought I'd ask the question, how do you do your winks?

That's always how it's worked with me- like the ol Facebook poke back in the day.

If I get a wink back I always message as it's an initial like

We do exactly as you described Mrs KnightsoftheCoffeeTable

If we wink and they wink in return, that gives us an indication that they might want to chat. If we were the wink-ee and reciprocated, we would wait for the other party to message us.

How long do you wait or do you ever follow up with a message, I'm pretty sure there's no incoming messages from these people so it's confused me why wink in the 1st place?

We’re the same as you guys but for some the wink is just an acknowledgment of a great profile.

I only ever send winks if a profile is particularly bare giving me nothing to construct a decent message off, if I receive. Wink I will always message them back.

I personally wouldn't follow up on people if they winked us initially. If they have the motivation to wink but then not enough to follow up with a message, the emotional labour shouldn't be placed on us to do so

It's hardly ever we are the winker. To be honest we will only ever return a wink if the initial profile pic is along the lines of what we are looking for & never to single men.

Might seem a little shallow but it works for us.

We find the same, we wink back and probably only 20% follow up with a message. So we assume either;

A) They wink by accident

B) They expect you to message first

C) He shows his partner the profile and she says no thanks

D) They use a wink like a Fab

This is my thoughts too, they look at us pretty much daily so it's totally confused me.

Mid Cornwall, South West

We go with, send a wink and one comes back we will follow up with a message.

Sometimes works the other way, receive a wink, send one back then hopefully a message from winker. Not always the case though.

I wink either for the people I think it would be fun chatting to. Not expecting a meet or social without talking. But in similar ways to yourself. It’s frustrating when winks are returned but conversation doesn’t happen.

I don't wink at people but if they wink and I'm interested, I'll message. Wink tennis annoys me, someone has to speak at some point.

It’s a tricky conundrum for us guys as many woman and couples get zillions of messages from guys and you see lots of women and couples saying that they have hundreds of unread messages and eventually mass delete.

Even the best constructed messages might stay in the unread pile.

Using a wink or even a fab of a pic or 2 might help break the ice and say I like what I see and If it’s returned then a message might get read and replied too.

Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t.

I like a week as a way of showing intrest and not to fill up peoples in box. Always respond to winks as it dose not hurt to be polite.
