So Cranberries, Garbage or Sleeper? All wonderful bands with great female lead singers. Yes its indie guitar music, but its still great. Or the Cardigans!?
Great bands, great lead singers, who gets your vote? |

"I only rate songs not bands
With so many songs, it is hard to pick the best. Where are you on 90s bands with female lead singers?"
Some of them are okay, 80s and 90s had really great female singers. Tina Turner, Blondie, too, Cranberries, Joan Jett |

Skunk Anansie for me. Skin was, and still is, awesome.

Too difficult to choose. As a fan of indie they were all good. Add Elastica, Primitives, Darling Buds and Skunk Anansie too.
I had a real crush on Cardigans lead singer so she wins.
NB. This is brought to you by the man who would fuck the bloke from the Corrs if he was promised the rest of the band. And I'm 100% straight. |

Good calls on Elastica, Cardigans and Skunk Anansie - all brilliant. What would be the equivalent bands now though? |

Saw Sleeper and Echobelly last November at the Shiiine On Weekender in Minehead.
Sleeper were great. Echobelly just okay.
But, I’ve had personal experience with Echobelly, and in particular Sonya, back mid 90s when they were at their peak and she’s not a very nice person so that could have swayed my opinion. |

Sophie Ellis-Bextor started out in an acclaimed one-album indie band with the pretentious name of 'theaudience'. Very different from the dance-pop she'd go on to do.
But though that late-'90s LP has far too much filler, I can heartily recommend the singles A Pessimist is Never Disappointed and I Know Enough, which I'm amazed aren’t better known. And yes, she’s VERY easy on the eye! |
