Always a good thing. We're all here for the same thing supposedly and lies lead to let downs!
There's no need to lie as there are enough people on here to get what you need!
Any particular reason to ask? |

"Honesty is it a good or a bad thing? "
It's always a good thing. Its how you deliver the honesty that matters. Clever mind has to play a part in that, I think xx |

Not always.
Some people are honest only because they can't live with their own guilt. So they off load and then don't understand why the other person can't live with the truth. Being honest about something doesn't entitle you to praise or to forgiveness. To forgive is divine so it's hard for us mere mortals to truly forgive and wipe the slate clean. Then trust has to be rebuilt.
Being honest and saying sorry might clear guilt but it doesn't clear the air.
I have seen people be slowly destroyed by a partner who thinks they are doing the right thing by fessing up every time they err. The right thing is not to err in the first place and the honest thing is to discuss with your partner that you are tempted to err and are having a hard time resisting it. If you can't be that honest then lie and live with your own guilt. |

On different levels honesty is not always a good thing :- ' Does this make me look fat ? '
Honest answer - yes
Diplomatic answer - no , don't be daft !!!
But in all seriousness ,if honesty is the basis of a healthy relationship. then in things that matter - it is the most important thing of all - and should never be compromised |

Good, when the purpose is to help someone and it's used with sensitivity and tact. Bad, when the purpose is to hurt someone. |

Good thing if you can deliver your honest message without offending or upsetting the recipient (easier said than done)
Bad if your intention is to offend or upset the recipient (very easily done even when your intentions are good)
May i ask if anything's prompted you to ask this question or was it just a general thought you had |

" I quite agree with this post - honesty in itself is always a good quality, the way it is delivered and the motives behind delivering it determine the further outcome at times. |

I don't think it is a case of "honesty".... more a case for a lot of people of being "honest enough"....
there is a difference....... |

Being honest is a nice thing, till it bites your arse.
Have you told your family, friends, BOSS ????????????????
Just how honest and how far do you take it. |

I disagree. First of all, my family, friends and even work are aware of my having an interesting life style. More importantly I do not share with all said people how much money I have in the bank, what I earn etc. Not doing so does not mean I am dishonest. |

You are more than likely one of the few that is out with work and family.
My ex-boss was told by someone else being honest about our lifestyle and thought he should know.
Having said that we never hid it, just didnt volunteer the info.
How much do you have in the bank anyway |

See now I don't agree with your example, I always told my x the truth if she asked me how she looked, because it would upset me more to see others pointing and staring at her, if that makes sense? Honesty is always the way to go. |
