"How do people go about having a third party join for hotel meets without getting heat at reception?
Are hotels bothered? "
Never had a problem, no one asks actually when you walk in straight through the reception to the lift. Maybe if its a bigger group then they may ask else no one is bothered who comes in. |

Does depend on the hotel and what time your guest is turning up. Large hotels with bars and restaurants the staff won't care if you act normally and it's not too late at night.
Only time I've been stopped and asked questions was at 7:00am. |

Pick the right venue. Avoid places that need room cards, even to get in the lift, especially if you are having several guests who would come directly to the room, rather than be met downstairs.
Hotels with bars that provide easy access to the lifts are great. You can socialise there, before going to the room.
I've not used Village hotels but they've been reported as helpful. Generally, hotels are happy as long as others aren't disturbed and staff will have encountered most situations before. |

The later it is at night, the higher likelihood that staff may intervene. If they evaluate a room to potentially have severe over-occupancy overnight, that could be seen as a legal safety issue. Timing is key. |

Either hand a second room key to your friend in the bar area, or leave on the tyre of your car in the carpark…..
You can just bluff it out and all walk to the lift/door access to rooms etc. Just all act natural |

I've never understood the panic about hotels. I've stayed all over for work, leisure and pleasure and have never once has anyone paid any attention to the people going to a room.
As long as you are at anything bigger than a local b&b then everything will be fine. They might get funny if they think women are "working" or if large groups of men are roaming the corridors but that's really it.
Relax and enjoy yourself, I guarantee there will be worse things going on there that night! |

Village are always great.
Nice bars, no keys for lifts and public access to the lifts without a receptionist.
I haven’t had any issues before, you can always say a friend is joining later and reception will let you through. |

Hotels vary but generally stuck to the chains and you’re ok.
That said I stayed at a Premier Inn to come down to reception hearing the receptionist slagging me off to 2 other guests saying people like me shouldn’t be allowed there. Yes I made a complaint to their head office. |

Never had an issue, but good to know where you’re going and look confident.
Lifts which need key access are the only tricky thing, but again this can be over come with some planning, or meet in bar and go up together. |
