The whole "slightly taboo" thing is so that there is a dramatic reason why these two random people are shagging.
Used to be the plumber coming to repair the washing machine.
Now it's someone living in the same house, who isn't a blood relative, and people becoming overcome in a moment when they walk in at the wrong time...
It's an overdone storyline.
