"Curious why must be single ?
This would be my question and a red flag, especially for poly.
Are you wanting to be in a monogamous throuple?"
Yeah doesn't make sense. Were poly and wouldn't dream of insisting someone we play with must be single. |

So, there is no 'official' language, just generally accepted terms, so everyone will always have a slightly different term.
But at it's basis polyamoury is quite literally 'many loves'.
To me I'm polyamourous because I'm capable of loving more than one person, it's not about sex, it's about love and relationships - sex is a bonus. (in fact one of my partners is asexual so we don't actually have sex)
It doesn't mean I can't have (and haven't had) freinds with benefits and fuck buddies... Because personally I'm a very sexual person, and I can seperate sex from emotion and have swung with partners in the past.
But a poly partner is so much more. I have two partners, one I am married to, the other I am just as committed to (we are in each others wills, next of kin etc...). |
