"My friend can't make it and all my other friends are too busy to go. Anyone interested going for the evening part this coming Saturday?"
I’m currently moored a little way downstream from Henley having cruised through last weekend.
Unfortunately I am not going to be here from Saturday onwards - the boat has been sold, new owners collecting her Saturday afternoon and I’m going home.
Otherwise, I’d have jumped at the chance! |

I'm honestly amazed nobody has jumped at a free ticket to Henley Regatta, and a date with a beautiful woman as part of the bargain! What the hell, people? I'd be all over this. (We don't tend to have regattas in Birmingham, though...) |

If it wasn't for having my youngest at the weekend... I'd be more than tempted and asking if we could swing past the alumni pitch for my old school and partake in pimms and canapés briefly as well... that and I have a beard

I can understand the aversion to the idea of just going it alone and trusting to the social ability of others to save the day….that being said, I am still very sure that someone with your looks would find it very hard to go for long without attention. But events like those are always more appealing with company, so I am still hoping to see you post that you have found your partner in crime, make or female.

Had the same dilemma a few weeks ago at Queen’s and went on my ownsome and met some lovely people, mostly working the event but even so, once you’re there it’s fine x

All due respect, but you need to go get your eyes tested or go to A&E. Because either you can't see what you look like or you have a concussion. You are gorgeous, there are literally thousands of people, men and women, that would crawl across broken glass to get to you. |

I never really meet anyone from fab. I met this woman from a different site, we had a marvellous magical time. The men were very friendly and most were very tall. Had a great time flirting and dancing all night long! |

Also, an awful lot of people in there are directly from the rowing world, and it is a very small world - the number of people I know from the time I competed, so a similar age, is huge, it's handshake central wandering through the Stewards enclosure. There's a guarantee that on any given day I'd bump into 20 or 30 people I know. And at least half of them would be asking questions about the woman on my arm.
So there might be some reticence for that reason. |
