Hiding a Profile

Why do some people bother to create a profile then hide that profile from everyone, I am assuming it could be a secondary profile, you can block users you don't want to see your profile so why hide it altogether? |

How do you mean 'as normal' ?
Some just use chat/the forums and aren't actively meeting. Others hide it when busy, on holiday or just want to take a break.
Some hide theirs and still actively seek meets but simply send messages with perhaps pics attached!
Don't try and over analyse or assume - you'll rarely be right - and how someone chooses to use the site is their choice after all!  |

we have playmates who hide theirs if they are not able to play for a few weeks,nothing sinister about hidden profiles |

I did, I don't send first messages out and I use the site to use the forums and talk to people I am friends with. I don't give my number out to most people so they have to contact me on here. Hiding my profile was, for me, a way to stop the first contact messages because if you can't see my profile you can't see what I look like. |

Don't assume anything,some people just want a day off from attention sometimes or want a break from people they don't know contacting them,so will still be online to enjoy the site without the added hassle of people being able to see them in searches  |

Mines only usually hidden wen I'm taking a break from meeting that way I still have access to the forums which I love always makes for an entertaining afternoon |

When my situation at home first changed I hid my profile, I got bombarded by so many "hey, what's up?" messages that I got sick of it and unhid my profile and put more info in the text as to whats up.
Everyone uses the site in different ways and for different ends. Focus on those who seem interested in you/availible/interesting to you and ignore the rest. |

It's only the same as someone politely asking you what your are trying to hide by having no pics on your profile? I'm sure you have a perfectly justified reason for doing it, that is personal to you, with no possible hidden agenda behind it. |

So instead of hiding a profile altogether why not just use the filters and filter out what you don't want and keep alive what you do, this I am assuming will keep your profile "alive" so to speak but will stop everything else. |

because you may be wasting other people's time... if you hide, as a previous poster mentioned, you do not come up in local searches, people are saved looking at the profile to read the update. Easier not to appear.
also searching by name you do not appear..

Plus there are ways around filters I had a guy message me to say he altered his personal details to change his age do he could message me on the off chance I'd play. Filters aren't full proof |

I hide my profile when I'm poorly or just need a break but it still means I can check in with all my fab friends. It also saves me having to get reverified later. Not quite sure why some people message me without pics or any intention of sending any and asking me to meet them when I don't know what they look like, it kind of gives me the impression they have assumed all women care about on here is cock and not what it's attached to  |

you chose not to have any pics on your profile others chose on occasions to hide there profiles
everyone is allowed choices equaly everyone is allowed an inquisitive mind

Hiding my profile; massively reduces my new messages. Say from 15 on average a day down to 1 or 2. I use filters, have a strict age range, a clear preference and location on my profile. I also show no options, in I want to meet, to avoid coming up in searches but i still get messages.
When i get fed up of them, i stash my profile for a bit, no pics on show and mostly no messages  |

My profile is hidden - I don't have to explain or justify why
But when it isn't hidden I have a properly written profile and I have pictures on it unlike the OPs- I find this much more annoying |

I hid mine for over 15 months while I was in a vanilla relationship. I didn't use the site at all then (well I posted once in the forums when a friend on Facebook messaged me about a 'who do you miss' thread I was mentioned in).
Good job I was too cynical to delete it altogether  |

Mine is hidden at the moment, whilst poorly I've just been meeting well known and trusted guys who know the current score

As far as I know, there are only 2 ways to block users from seeing your profile:-
~ on an individual basis
~ by hiding your profile
You can't use the filters to prevent certain groups of people from SEEING your profile. You can block them from mailing you, but you can't prevent them from seeing you.
So, I can imagine people who want to be PROACTIVE in meeting fabsters, but who don't want to be widely known as being members of Fab ... e.g. people who work with children, or maybe spies....

we hid ours coz saxon was very unwell , then lost a parent, then became unwell again. on the road to recovery now tho. |

Theres no point hiding a profile just to _iew others. You could create a profile pretty similar to yours to do that... |

I suppose the question to really ask is, why does it bother you if they do? What harm are they doing to you by doing it? |
