Why do people ask to chat elsewhere on here rather than thru the site?

Means you can't report the chat to the site admin and yet another thing to block them on. Plus get around things like photo rules.

I'm happy to chat here no problem, on forum, chatrooms or messages.

But I guess other apps have more direct messaging where no website login is required.

The Fab app may have that too I guess but haven't tried it. I guess by lack of knowledge or word of mouth.
