Spotting a fake

We all know there are fake profiles, and this is not a moan or whinge as I think some of them are hilarious , however I think it's getting more difficult to spot them due to fake verifications etc. What warning signs do you look for? Some obvious, others less so, for the record one if mine is people constantly in the chat rooms but not saying anything  |

Fake pics, either on their profile or sent attached to a message. Its easy to search any image on google or other sites.
Some even deny it and go on cam hoping you won't notice! Checking people out on cam is the highest level of pre-meet verification they are real.
I've reported 3 profiles this week alone with fake pics. Shame, they were all very attractive photo's!! |

I confronted someone who gave me a false verification and his reasoning was he felt if he verified someone he has more chance meeting them... instead I informed admin and he got removed lol
To give admin some credit for a change they have removed the person giving a false ones, took the false one off my profile and dealt with it pretty swiftly (even if the guy has just created a new prof) |

A guy I saw on cam today who had fake pics said that he had met people and none of his veri's so far had cared the pic wasn't him! In my mind these people are almost as bad. Fab is built on trust and the veri system is a big part of that. So they were real veri's...based on a fundamental lie. |

ive been here 4 years and never ever ben duped by anyone that I did'nt have suspicions about in the first place,its not difficult to use your instinct when getting to know someone,any sort of alarm bells that ring then I stop contact
you can chat on the phone,go on cam,so many things you can do to make it easier on yourself
If you really believe a profile to be fake then report it and let admin have a look at it
If you believe that verifications/pics are fake then do the same
just remember just bevause you think someone may be fake it does'nt actually mean that they are though |

We always take our time to get to know someone on here before we even decide to meet, that tends to out the fakes and timewasters ( always hate that word unless they don't actually show for a meet ) and follow your gut feelings that's a great way to sort fakes lol |

There is no perfect system for verifying someone is genuine and people will try to cheat the system if they can.
All you can do is be safe and sensible, get them on cam, on the phone, dont meet at the drop of a hat, organise a social meet first, or just get along to a club which is the easiest way of finding real people in this community without any bullshit
I actually think the level of "fakes" has gotten better, or maybe we have got better at spotting them and dealing with them.

First thing if the pics look "professional" we will tineye them, this a program that looks up the picture if it appears on loads of sites, porn sites etc then 99% of the time its a fake.
Second thing is ability to talk, you will find a lot of fakes will be after some quick online "endpoint" picture begging, cam begging, video begging these quickly mark someone out as not being all that real.
If you get any of the "hmm this isnt right" warning signs, you simply ask them to go on cam if they wont/cant/dog died/cam died/need to get a new one then thats a big red flag.
If you really truly believe the above you ask them to take a picture with a personalised written message to you, if they cant come through on that then 100% fake.
Honestly for women and couples your better off getting into one of the chat rooms and looking at those that go on cam or getting to a club.

we dont have and dont like webcams we pretty much have to rely on the fact we have a lot of veris it would be very hard to fake them all lol
Dunno we just take people in their stride if they are fakes so what they will chat then bog off so we wont meet them and if they do turn up and are fake (like a male posing as couple) im fairly confident in handling the situation. We have met many first timers who could have been accused of being fakes and had a great time |

Tineye is a little bit better and you can get a plugin for chrome so you can right click any picture and do a lookup |

Just recently had one. The pictures gave it away - very very professionally posed and didn't all quite match - as if they had tried to get a series of photos of people and put them together.
Had a verification tick but did not display veris. Also a 4 word frofile and had been on for a while.
I mentioned the pics being rather too good to be true but the person just changed the subject and avoided all talk of the pics.
Definite fake but hard to prove. |

Tineye is a little bit better and you can get a plugin for chrome so you can right click any picture and do a lookup"

Having said that!....it actually does make life easier in the selection process for me at least! Guys who will put a fake pic are simply liars and effectively deselect themselves. |

I'm sure many have a mobile phone as well as a computer... Or access to a friends, family members, internet cafe or work computer...
Plus as we've heard some people will readily give out veri's when requested. |

Fakes come in all types
singles posing as couples...... no photo veri and if they go in chat on cam you only ever see one of them.
Veris if they have any will be hidden and or from a cam veri.... how hard is it to get a friend to sit beside you looking at the computer while you are showing them your ebay watch list fcol..... come on folks dont verify on cam views please
Normaly single blokes but sometimes single women.
message from sinles posing as couples easier to deal with ask for phone number or msn so that you can verify before oing further...... amasing how many just shut up.

Fake verifications arepretty easy apparently
Get 1 profile verified then set up another the first verifies number 2 and so on til you end up with a profile with multiple verifications none of them are real and yet look and sound like some sort of sex god xx |

Beats me why anyone would bother!
But I agree with many above that they're usually very easy to spot. The pic search ( google/tineye ) facilities are free, there's the option of camming / talking via phone - but I've still always felt gut instinct is the best tool for spotting fraudsters. If in doubt - move on! |

You can tell some of our pics are very real! As someone left the mirror covered in make up smudges when she took the pics! Not naming any names.
We also have had someone message us out the blue and say they would leave us a verification if we wanted. Which has made me think how many are now true? |

cant be done cos mate of mine sent up a profile when he stayed here i tried to verify him but couldnt cos it was on same comp as he opened his profile on so he had to redo profile on his own comp |

I wouldn't feel right faking verification where is the sense of achievement where's the record of victory?, fake success leaves only hollow feelings, such feelings are worthless |

After reading thread I'm glad I don't show mine give any or bother reading any veris and just stick to my own tried and trusted way of making my own mind up who I want to meet and not rely on anyone else's opinion of them. |

We just added this extension to chrome all you have to do is right click and select reverse image search on a pic, and it they are nicked it shows. we have reported at leats 20 in the leics area alone.

We had a picture rejected because it " it was from another site " but the original is definitely ours !

I use my pics elsewhere too and they originals, hopefully it checks the source and not just to see if they are elsewhere otherwise there are gonna be a lot of nekonialls all over the place |

i thought a girl was fake because she had been on here for a year and never met anyone. she kept messaging me and i said ill level with you i dont think your real. this time she agreed to let me phone her and she was a real girl. so i hate this paranoia about fakes making me doubt real people all the time!  |

Don't know about fakes so much but the same description could, I guess, be levelled at timewasters.
We've met loads of lovely people at Chams but have yet to meet a couple outside socially. Much exchanges of details, mails etc and when the final point approaches for a meet.... a last minute cancellation or silence from their part. They're still here so it would be difficult to class as fakes in truth. |

I know of a strange couple on here that contacted us at the start,well he did.
Then when his wife found the texts from us she texted back saying we will never meet etc.
He had done it behind her back then blamed my wife for chasing him,tosser.
But I don't think there fakes as they have posted meets in the forums.
But then again they could be you never know.
It seems to me that's its more hassle being a faker that it would be to just be up front and play |

That freaks me out a bit lol. I don't know how I first noticed it but a woman comes into chat who never speaks. No matter how busy or quiet the room is. She also never repsonds if people try to chat to her. Up to her if she joins in or not I know but I just sort of get a bit freaked by her never saying anything. I do know she is definitely a she as she has a few verifications. |
