I think you'll find that women have been removing their pubic hair since early Egyptian times.The ancient Greeks and Romans did it too.....all before 1990. Skin mags of the '40s and '50s always featured shaved women. It wasn't allowed to show pubic hair and a shaved model made it easier for the photographers to retouch the photos for publication.
