Interesting post. Bluetooth was very useful in the past but seems to have been superseeded by wifi these days.
There where some bluetooth apps around which where very useful in clubs, pubs and particularly dogging sites. They where a great safety feature when meeting new folks, if you think about it, and free on all mobiles.
Had some amusing bluetooth chats just sitting in supermarket car parks lol.
Shame more dont use it.Mine is usually switched on when out and about, never know who is about, and is completely anonimous.
Guess like the old SWINGERS PIN it lost out to the internet .
Good bluetoothing |

"I use the mobile app. when out , have had someone less that half a mile away "
Maybe they should have a 'Radar' style app on the mobile site so you can zero in on them like a fly-by-wire missle! |

Think you find the fabs app is for android phones, and modern smartphones and laptops, for which there are a number of alternatives.
Older symbian phones, like mine, very limited, both in operation and range.
But almost all have bluetooth, not all have wifi or internet function.
Hence the advantage of close proximity (less than 10m )
Also many apps only link to others using same app.
nice to see interest though..

"You can always use the Fab mobile app, that has a 'who is near me' thingie on it ..."
Not as much fun when the person could be standing quite close, but your phone says within half a mile. Especially as they would have to be checking their fabswingers account at the same time, at least with Bluetooth your phone alerts you when you have a message/request within seconds. Both are very good in different ways and you still have the option to ignore whichever you use.
You can also change your phone name for Bluetooth depending on where you are, as long as you remember...lol |

best thing about all this is it is FREE
Just play with your own device, suss out the bluetooth function and happy searching lol
P.S. Its just as easy to set up a wifi hub for more range, or even a local server/hotspot on an old pc, ALL FOR FREE.
good luck

Anyone else had that?"

"Does anyone still use Bluetooth to let people around them know they are swingers by their phone name?
Imagine the random meets in Tesco and the occasional wink across the tills.. "
Why? When I am in tescos im looking for shopping not people to play with. If you can't find a meet on here a site designed for swinging then stalking people in the supermarket is hardly likley to work.

Male friend of mine met a 'new friend' in Asda, apparantly they both reached for the same frozen bag of chicken breasts, had a convo about breasts, and after a lot of flirting they made their way to his house for an afternoon of fun.
Maybe Asda is more swing-friendly |
