State of the bedroom?

We're fixing up an old house and living it at the same time and well, the state of the master bedroom is terrible.. unfinished walls, no ceiling, no furnishings apart from the bed, and it's tiny. But the bed is large and we keep it as clean as we can.

I'm afraid we may scare potential meets (single guys for MMF) because of the state of the bedroom.

Would it matter to you? Discuss

If it was just that room and it was clean it might not be an issue, although I would always offer to host instead.

Yeah we typically avoid going to others' but I'm thinking we should be open to it now, considering

It wouldn't bother me (I'm aware I'm a woman and not single ). As long as it was clean and warm, there was a decent cup of coffee on offer and possibly a biscuit I'd be happy.

A guy once offered us the unmissable opportunity of a mattress on the floor of an unoccupied building, he was willing to lay coats on the mattress though. After that an actual bed in an occupied house is an upgrade

What is the state of the living room? Perhaps you could use that as an alternative to the bedroom.

Wouldn't bother me! Surely it's about people answering not the building site you are temporarily having to endure?

If you was to tell anyone you was thinking of meeting that you was decorating etc I dont think it would put anyone off.its a little bit like living in a flat where the communal stairs may be a little dirty but inside your flat is spotless.

Yeah not as keen on the living room ourselves. I'm thinking we'll offer and be upfront or else go to someone else's for the time being.. we really need to finish our house

We did our house up. It was derelict when bought and we lived in one room then as other rooms were completed we expanded. You don't need to live as if you are in a building site. Stage your rooms.

We still do not let people the one room that is not complete but after the many years of working on the house, that will soon change

That was the idea but too late for that now.. we're working on everything at the same time. Totally not the best way to do it but it is what it is.. don't want it to impact our sex life though!

no, not at all.

you have valid reasoning behind the state of disarray.

i met with someone last week who's in the middle of doing his place up.. didn't detract anything from our meet or chemistry etc.

Wouldn’t bother me, if I knew in advance that what the situation was- although the evening might descend into me getting completely fascinated by your plans for the house and totally forgetting what I was really there for!

If you prewarn potential partners what is going on at home, that will allow them to suggest meeting at their place, a club or getting a hotel room.

A building site certainly would! Mind you there would be some deliciously naughty role play opportunities hmm…

None with a suitable bed and/or are comfortable enough. The whole house is being worked on

our bedroom is in need of redecorating. Hasn't put anyone off who has come over. They came to see us, not the house.

Suppose it depends on the people. Some people are very... choosy lol. Each to their own.

I'm not a male looking to join in an mmf

But I'm sure if you just explain the situation, most people would be understanding.

But then I'd probably want a full tour of the house and to duscuss your ideas for interiors and kitchen plans etc....

Coz I'm a massive loser who also has ab enture house to decorate as am building from scratch

This would be amazing! Honestly it's wearing us down sometimes but it's nice to discuss plans with people in a similar boat.

We're shopping round for an architect now to restore a 19thC stone house as well.. not many of them in our area (Ireland) that don't want to raze it to the ground. Better suited for this project in the UK I think

Long as it wasn’t dust, grime and scum-ridden with dirty plates and old food lying around, I wouldn’t mind.

Possible.. need to look into that but I think it might not be a thing where we are I'm afraid.. we live in the middle of nowhere, an hour from the nearest city in rural Ireland

Finish a room so you can chill out. It will give you the sense of achievement and encourage you to carry on. Our bedroom has been redone a few times as has our bathroom. We are fortunate to have a very large bedroom and a massive bed

Easier said than done.. only so much we can accomplish given our bank account and energy level (much of our work is DIY). It's a small bedroom so at least it'll take less time, right??

Wouldn't put me off, not every house is perfect and different people have different levels of comfort. You have a reason for it as it's something you're working on and the bed itself is clean so really shouldn't be a block to enjoying the company of others.
