Need some advice.. We're house hunting and a house we've seen has a hottub.
What does it cost to run/heat an enclosed gazebo hottub ?
Do people use solar to supplement ?
What else do we need to think about ?!

I would check that it's wired in properly,
They really don't need much maintenance to be honest, just the chemicals topped up now and then, and even they are easy to buy, we have a shop that's pretty local to us that sell the chemicals |

If its full and operational, ask to dip a test strip (cheeky i know) to check PH and alkalinity level is right. If not it could mean its not balanced right and a hefty future bill is forming in the system !!!!!!! Cheep as chips to run. |

Dont woory about the water you can always empty it.
Ask things like
How old
Who services it
check the filters are they intact
check the cover any splits
try the pumps it will have two speeds and the air pump
is it on level ground
finaly how much is it
it cost alot to move them especially if you need a crain so they may leave it there anyway
we have had our tub about 5 yrs
the cost depends on how much you use it
it all about heating the water i think ours cost about £1 - £1.50 a day to run
but its worth every penny
been in it today in the snow mmmm 39 degrees
different types of chemicals
clorine
non toxic shock (makes the water clear)
PH adjust up&down
hard water adjuster
you use clorine & shock the most
about £15 per tub lasts 12 months or so
hope this helps |

To answer your original question, how much? I have a new 7 birth, set into decking so not in the wind, with a fully insulated top but no gazebo. The sales man said about £30 month electric. I'd say it is about £25 a month . Add another £5 for chemicals and filter ancillaries.
Can't say it's a good reason to buy a house, but I'd not buy a house and not fit one lol |

Well that's not the reason to buythe house ! It'd be much cheaper to buy one obviously ! We're not forking out a 3% gift to the government to buy a hot tub lol !!! |

what I meant was if the water is not balanced then it shows it may not have been maintained right, wrong ph/alkalinity levels mean a build up in the internal system that can cause parts to fail. So yes test the water. Its like the oil level and condition when you look at buying a second hand car, can give you an insight into how well/poorly its been maintained and can give you an indication as to internal condition. |
