Why would someone that you’ve been speaking to delete the conversation? Things seemed to be going in the right direction but now the conversation has been deleted. Bored or genuine mistake?

Wherever

I very much often delete by mistake by pressing the wrong button but I would explain to the recipient why. So it can happen.

It may have been a genuine mistake as they’re still friends with us.

Do you need to save conversations indefinitely? If you're friends and chat regularly then is it an issue? Maybe they just bulk deleted the entire inbox during routine housekeeping.

We delete if a particular conversation has finished, but add them to our hotlist if we'd like to continue talking at a later date, otherwise our inbox would be harder to manage.

If you message someone you've already spoken to them the old messages are still there to view

If a member though it's still all there when a new message is sent ... I delete them when replied to and only have to keep one message to read through the whole conversation

Down the back of the sofa.

I dunno, on our couples account I was chatting to a couple and they were chatting back, I went to reply to a fairly innocuous message and they’d blocked us!

I've done this more times than I can remember due to the poor design of the mobile site meaning my fat fingers accidentally hitting the delete button on my phone.

Yet another case for Fab to actually do something about the site design...

Thankfully the sent messages are there just in case I end up doing this in the future

But not all the messages are there, I find the early ones disappear

Wherever I lay my hat

By mistake, mass delete when my inbox is out ot control, got bored/lost interest, unusually long time to reply so I assume they got bored/lost interest... So many reasons

I accidentally delete messages all the time, have they contacted you again?

"I accidentally delete messages all the time, have they contacted you again?"

The chat was ended like “chat to you later to arrange a social” kind of thing. So we dunno what’s going on. Probably innocent enough.

They may have changed their minds, didn't like something you said or simply just deleted by accident. Why not just message them again and see if they respond? If they don't then you have your answer

Hard to say unless I saw both sides of the conversation.

I delete in error and can understand how people do this too. I don't look for whether they're deleted.

I sometimes delete a conversation to see if they ever get back in touch. You quickly find out if they are actually interested in meeting or have been just wasting your time.

I move on very quickly at the first sign of doubt.
