I have two and would suggest that quite a few girls committed to interracial play also have them. Suggest you go to a BMFC or the like party to see them in the wild?

Have the tattoo because I wanted it. I only ever had compliments from guys and girls in lifestyle which sort of reinforces why I have it.
Outside the scene, yes, people ask about them (and all my other tattoos). Always been honest and say I have a preference for black guys. My friends and some family know I am non-monogamous and have sexual relations with other guys, so they aren't shocked.
Work colleagues can guess as much as they like but clearly don't say anything about my sex life at work (and to be fair, they can think whatever they like).
