The risk of asphyxiation is zero unless you're stupid enough to do it alone. The bed cover is made of very thin latex, maybe .5mm. There's normally a very small opening around the mouth where a straw can be used to breath. Any problems and the person/people outside the bed just cut off the vacuum and the latex pops up.
It's quite an extreme method of play for those into latex and so called 'total enclosure'. Some beds have an opening in the crotch too.
