Now I know most won’t post their actual age on fab and keeping it low to stay in the interested bracket. However, why do some people state their age and are clearly 10, 15 years older?
Met a guy after messaging. He was from out of town and his photos weren’t very clear. Said he was 47, 7 years older than me. As soon as I met him in the pub it was instantly obvious that was a lie. After a drink, I never bail even with deception, I said “you’re not 47 are you. He told me he’d had a hard life. Eventually he said he was 59. Surely if it’s a lie by that much is it worth trying deceive? |

"I post my actual age! But know what u mean some when meeting are not even recognizable! X"
I do too but I’ve met the odd guy that say they are 47 or 46 but who are actually 50. A few years doesn’t bother me as much |

"I tell people that I’m 90, then they say I look good for my age "
I might do that. Mind you at our local social last night a woman thought I was 30 so I’ll take that! |

I have absolutely no issue stating my true age. What is the point in lying?
We had a meet from our couples profile where the male half admitted to being 10 years older. It’s deceptive and makes you wonder what else they’re lying about. |

"I'm 48, 49 this year and see no reason to lie.
I have earned every year.
If my age is a problem then that is your choice."
I like that! The thing is at the time I was new. Hadn’t set an age range. He could have messaged me being 59 and I would have talked to him. |

Yes starting off with a lie if it’s that easy. I’m 40 and proud! |

Just posted on another thread about a guy I knew they a chatgroup 5 years ago who said he was 55 at the time but admitted in the group he had knocked a few years off and was actually 58.
He leaves and comes back on a regular basis and one of his most recent profiles said he was 50.
My age on here is correct mainly because there's no point lying about it but also because I've no interest in "getting around" filters.
I also enjoy flying the flag for older members and am happy with how I look for my age. |

I am 62, almost 63 now, and proud of it
Cj is 52 almost 53, neither of us would lie about it, no point, we are what we are
Wouldn't matter much to us if somebody we were going to meet told a small fib about their years... but when somebody is caught out by that it does make you wonder what else they lie to you about and thats never a nice feeling |

It's often to get round peoples filters ,l've had similar many many ago.
We met for a social ,he said late 30s,but was easily in his 50s.Nothing came of it ,he admitted to using v old pics.
I think they hope you won't mind once you meet them.
It's very deceptive and makes me wonder what else people lie about ,if they do their age.
My age is a few weeks older than I am . |

see me as a person is a enough so need to stretch the truth. What you see on fab is what you see in person...a 45 year old fat dik hed as per veris |

My fab age is my real age. I'm 50 and I don't see any point in lying about it .
I did meet one guy off here who seemed to age and go grey overnight though at one point. He admitted he was 10 years older than his fab age but dropped it because he felt younger.Well all he felt that night was himself anyhow as I've no interest in people who catfish to get meets off here. |

We've met people in their 30s who appear in their 50s in real life, also people in their 50s who appear in their 30s. Trust is everything for us so deception before we meet will result in a very quick no, honesty may just get you that play. |

My age is correct, I’m proud of it as it took me 39 years to achieve.
I think there’s people with multiple profiles where they’ve made an extra one to message where age preferences exclude them. It’s a bit odd but then people seem to do and say all sorts of things online that in real life may get them into all sorts of trouble.
Being totally open and honest I actually considered adding a year on another account because there’s so many interesting profiles that aren’t interested in under 40s. However I’m either lazy or honest as I just decided to wait until my next birthday instead.

there are 10000s on her who lie about their age of more than 10 to 2o years there are people on here we've know from when we first started all those years ago who were in there 50s who are still in there 50s 30 years on tho maybe late 50s these are people we know face to face ...they are women men and couples ..
and the at the other end there are 18/19 year olds on here pretending to be 25 upwards .... |

And one thing for sure is that the many people who are lying about their age won't appear on this thread. A blatant lie like that suggests they're capable of lying about lots of other things... So maybe best not to meet anyone until you've had a video call to flush them out. |

A couple of people I’ve met from here that were/are my friends, both lied about their age on here. They told me very early on, but it always made me feel weird.
Lately I had a similar scenario and when I expressed how I felt about it, was met with that classic ‘age is just a number’. Ok…but if it is…why are you lying about it?!
I can’t get my head around it. |

I like the threads about gigs on here the amount of 40 somethings who saw bands who split on the late 70 or early 80s is always interesting.

There really is no point in lying about your age. If it is only a few years what’s the point, if it is by a lot then it will be blatantly obvious if you meet. |

Suppose it is about confidence, if you are confident and happy with yourself at the age you are then why be dishonest. From experience with my partner, it is much harder for guys especially meeting another couple when we did. I honestly believe there is an unwritten cut off for them, not just here. Get exceptions as always
I knew a lady on another site, she was 80 and still had guys queueing, i hope i will be at 80 (not guys queueing) but you know what i mean |

I've never denied adjusting my age by a couple of years. Every time this subject crops up the usual suspects start getting holier than thou about any minor inaccuracy in someone's profile being a heinous lie, purposely done to decieve and dupe people into meeting them.who otherwise wouldn't.
Some make minor adjustments purely for discretion. The same way that they don't use their real name or their exact location. It's about manintaing anonymity and privacy for some.
Of course, knocking a decade off is pointless and won't fool anyone. Likewise using photos so old they bear no resemblance to you now is futile.
I'll say the same as I always do. Line up 20 people aged 31 to 50 and try and put them in exact age order. 99% of people will guess wrong.
Age is one of the filters on site, but how often do people ask it face to face in clubs or socials? I suspect actual physical attraction is far more important in those situations than finding out someone is one year outside of your Fab preferences and the liklihood of you then cutting them off and rejecting them would be small.
But hey. The question will be asked every month ad infinitum and the answers given will always be the same.

It's so rare for someone to *genuinely* look younger than their actual age that it makes it easy to tell even from photos that they've been economical with the truth. I know people use old photos but often you can tell they're old.

Don't understand post with these sweeping statements.
I post my real age
Lies is pointless
And even on fab you need an element of trust so let's start with the basics |

I met a lady on here 5 years ago who declared her age to be 59, on her arrival at my place she openly declared that she was actually 64 which I was fine with.
We drifted apart and never met again, I did however get a message from her a few days ago asking how I was,Her current profile shows her age as 59. In reality she would be 69 now. I would still be more than happy to meet up with her though. |

But I have noticed a drop in people I can chat with once I hit 60 - a lot of people seem to have that as a cut off
But still thankfully a lot of people who don’t have an age issue |
