My father who grew up in a pub in very rough area of the docks believes that an anklet denotes that a woman is a lady of the night. Hence I never wear one in his company.
I wouldn't believe everything you read on the internet if I were you. However you could ask the lady if her anklet has any significance because some do. |

I think though that some of us women are so tired with nearly every item of clothing or jewellery we wear being interpreted as us being sexually available that we sometimes miss the nuance of light-hearted banter  |

If it's an anklet on its own with no letters or symbols, probably just jewellery, but as you say if she's light hearted & good banter sounds like she wouldn't be offended by your question, might actually start an alternative conversation lol  |

I ve worn anklets all my adult life, in no way do I associate it with swinging, to the point I recently bought some silly love heart bracelet magnetic thing on line for my daughter and myself, she's wearing it on her ankle |

Many wearing an anklet are likely to be unaware of this.
We're in the swinging lifestyle and this is the first time I've heard of it.
Unless the anklet has something to define that are in fact swingers, such as HW, or Hotwife, or say two male symbols and one female, then assume they're innocently wearing it because they simply like to wear an anklet. |
