Saw this on TV before Christmas, they said it was really difficult to tell the real thing from the fake one.
Their advice was to only buy from reputable shop etc.
Suppose a womans best defence is buy them yourself and make sure you use only the ones you have bought. |

I always carry condoms, If I'm going to a club with girlfriends, I'll carry extra and will hand them out.
Its part preference for me, I like the ones I have and I know no one has tampered with them
I think it also comes down to selection of playmates so I dont drink to keep my wits about me.
Again though, it is one of the risks we take |

They aren't really telling us much about how to distinguish a difference though...there's a pic on the website but only the packaging. Can't find out anywhere if the actual condom feels/looks any different! The one they refer to as fake on the pics looks identical to the ones I got from the clinic last month! |

They'll counterfeit anything which people need or want to buy 'under plain cover' (to use a very old phrase). And the same guys who on here boast about being able to Kamagra/'Viagra' cheaper than anyone else will be the same ones who will buy counterfeit condoms....

"why buy them when you can get them for free?"
Wider choice..?? The range at our nearest clinic is pretty small and, without boasting, they don't do anything in my size....

"Did it say anything about latex-free ones? As I am about to switch after noticing a reaction to normal ones and don't want added worries. " The article on the BBC website shows on Durex ones in the purple foil (can't remember which ones they are. Don't use Durex).
If they were going to fake anything, it would more likely be the bigger, well-known brands and that's where they are going to get the greatest sales volume.
Maybe safer, if buying online, to go for one of the lesser known brands...?

72 Mates Skyn latex free are only £20 from the freedoms shop so hardly worth finding a 'cheap' vendor.

Another article shows Trojan and Mates too in their pic, but not sure if that's something they've just got from an archive. There isn't much detail about them at all on the reports. Gives the fear but no positive way to take action really to me |

The BBC one shows a fake Durex pack alongside a real one - you can tell the difference quite easily IF... and that's a big IF... you're very familiar with the correct shade of purple of the genuine ones.....

The ones I got from the clinic last month though seem to be the same purple as the fake ones appear to be in the picture! Could be poor print quality on the pic though I guess x |

If that's the Durex ones, the purple in the pic of the real one is very close to the real thing - it's quite a deep purple (no pun int!). If you're in any doubt take them back. If fake Viagra can make its way into the NHS supply chain, there's no reason why fake condoms couldn't....

The problem is...the Same idiots who buy fake Cigarettes, Perfume, clothes, Booze etc will be the ones who buy and use these, the problem I have is its like the fake £ coins, there in circulation and the chances are your going to get one, Im playing safe and buying mine from Boots etc, I'd avoid Vending machines in Bar toilets as you don't know who is stocking them up, and I'd hate to imagine the poor conditions they have been made in |
