My understanding is that kink can have a very broad meaning and can be an unconventional sexual appetite, or getting pleasure from something that's considered outside the norm. Hence swinging by that definition is kinky. Some use kinky in a narrower meaning to cover acts that are taboo or involve unusual acts or items for sexual pleasure.

In human sexuality, kinkiness is the use of non-conventional sexual practices, concepts or fantasies. The term derives from the idea of a "bend" in one's sexual behaviour, to contrast such behaviour with "straight" or "vanilla" sexual mores and proclivities.
