"And now you know why women only gyms are a thing! " I suspect its not a one way street though.. only have to read the forums to see that there are women on here objectifying poor blokes who only want to work out and end up getting leered at lasciviously by man hungry sex obsessed women.

"Theres deffinatly some women who want to be looked at in the gym. Once when i was there i was eorking iut in the area used for classes after they had finished. All by myself self doing side raises when a lass comes to the area (which is about 20ft wide) and gers on all 4s direcrly infront of my lifting her leg out to the side. Made me feel so uncomfortable, didnt know where to lookas i could no longer look stright ahead so cut short and headed off." You probably don't need being told that you should not have done that. You should have kept doing exactly what you were doing if that meant appearing to be looking right up her ass, thats zero concern of yours

Made me feel so uncomfortable, didnt know where to lookas i could no longer look stright ahead so cut short and headed off. You probably don't need being told that you should not have done that. You should have kept doing exactly what you were doing if that meant appearing to be looking right up her ass, thats zero concern of yours I'd do the same. If someone placed their bum hole in my line of site I'd probably wonder off and get in a queue. Brits are too awkward to casually stare at a crack while getting jacked and not hurt themselves Well thats to their eternal detriment then What's that I didn't stare in the eye of sauron. I go to a JD gym and there's certainly no gendered areas of the gym. I spend most of my time in the free weights and benching area and I'm female. I'm also a wheelchair user. "An interesting read if I do say so. Mind you after reading some of the comments of the female members on here they might want to think about making their pictures private or friend only. Just to stop men looking at them. It all reminds me of the lyrics in a Howard Jones song from the 80’s You can look at the menu but you just can't eat You can feel the cushions but you can't have a seat You can dip your foot in the pool but you can't have a swim You can feel the punishment but you can't commit the sin " Well done for completely missing the point myself and other women have repeatedly tried to make. Is it deliberate or can you somehow not see the difference between: A) choosing to post pictures of yourself on an adult website and B) going to the gym to work out I just want to be left alone to get on with my training at the gym. I wear what I want to wear for noone else other than myself... I don't even take into account the eyes of my boyfriend who i train with...

After the class ends, anyone can use that section. I'm not saying there's absolutely no chance of segregated areas within gyms, but what I am saying is that I think it's very rare, not the norm at all. Kindest regards, Mrs KC

"SOME woman in gym love will the attention and love the fact that us blokes are glancing at them, hence why they train in the blokes bit and in little shorts and tops, it's not for freedom of movement, it's because they're confident in their body, why do I wear a vest in January at training, to show off what ive developed. Since when was there a blokes bit in the gym? Is there some unspoken rule where me and my big underwear less ass can’t go to lift weights? Are we living in the 80s here? Geez. Only reason I don’t wear knickers is I hate seeing my own ass with pantyline digging into it as I squat. Well ladies have a ladies only section at the gym I train at, so the other section is for.........blokes........and women who are body confident Eh?? I go to a JD gym and there's certainly no gendered areas of the gym. I spend most of my time in the free weights and benching area and I'm female. I'm also a wheelchair user. No-one bats an eyelid and if anyone is trying to work out my underwear arrangements, I'm not aware of it. Ok, so you've never seen a womans only section in your one mainstream commercial gym, one of how many thousands of mainstream commercial gyms, dont forget the privately owned gyms, and bb'ing gyms, that do actually have woman only rooms, wind ya neck in luv Thank you for your kind and considerate reply. I am aware of women only gyms - there's one locally. And I am aware of women only gym classes at some mainstream gyms. I work with a PT who also works across various chain gyms - JD, Pure etc. He obviously knows lots of PTs. And none of them have seen a separate section within a bigger gym that is gender specific, UNLESS it was part of a women only gym class i.e. a temporary period of gender segregation. After the class ends, anyone can use that section. I'm not saying there's absolutely no chance of segregated areas within gyms, but what I am saying is that I think it's very rare, not the norm at all. Kindest regards, Mrs KC Most of major chains, including JD have a woman's only area. It's more rare for them to not have one in my experience. " This is news to me, a JD member for over 4yrs and to my PT who works in them! There are women only GYMS, yes.

Non of the gyms I've been a member of in the last 15 years have had women's only sections and that included multiple Fitness Firsts across London. I can remember in Birmingham my then partner going to a gym that had a women's only section but again that was the exception not the norm. I agree with you, while theu may exis6 they dont seem to be the norm

I've just looked and none of them are in Manchester or nearby. That would explain why the PT wasn't aware of them. Apparently the gym manager at the one I use didn't know either!

"And from the pure gym website... "ARE THERE LADIES ONLY AREAS IN MY GYM? We offer Ladies Only areas at some of our gyms, check your gym's page to see if your gym has one!" " I've looked. None of the Manchester ones have ladies only bits, nor any of the towns in Greater Manchester. That covers 2.5 million people! The nearest one is Warrington. I had a quick look on Pure Gyms too and none in this area have ladies only areas. So, it's fair to say they're not the norm. We do have a ladies only whole gym just up the road.

"Some women at my gym are so paranoid about men. I sat on the only empty exercise bike, next to a woman. She did loud huff looked at me as if I was a pervert, muttered something under her breath grabbed her stuff and stormed off and just stared at me from a distance. As soon as I was done she went back on the bike again. Total weirdo, does my head in when people assume you fancy them when you don’t. But also - stop creeping on women in the gym OP. " Reading a lot of replies on here would surely make you understand why some women are like that. There's idiots here actually claiming women dress like they do at the gym so some wee weirdo will perve on them.

"I'm going to join a gym soon. Now... Question is are all women in gyms angry if you talk to them or look at them? If so am I better at an all male gym if they exist.? " You're there to train, not harass women. It's not difficult.

Talking to someone who doesn't want to be talked to, and is in the middle of something they are focussing on, is pretty shitty in my book. I get annoyed when I'm plugged in and someone talks to me. I time my rests. I'm normally on a schedule. Motivation also matters. If you are interupting someone who doesn't want to be disturbed because you fancy them and want to make a move .. that starts to tip into something else imo.

Its not harassment though... People can exist in a gym without fancying eachother. Equally gyms... Some gyms.. Are social places... And people talk to eachother in them and it isn't harassment. Sounds to me a lot like people are looking for reasons to argue about something really basic. It's a shared resource in a shared environment. Interactions are going to happen. If you get angry because someone interacts with you in a communal environment maybe the issue lies elsewhere.

Or that everyone fancies everyone. Or everyone who talks fancies who they talk to. But If I have all the signs I don't want to be disturbed, and you disturb me, that's annoying. You've stepped on my boundary. Now it may be it's to check if I'm using a handle. That's fine. I will allow it. If it's just to talk to me, that's shit. Its like trying to start a conversation with someone on a telephone call. By all means talk to people who want to talk to you. Be social. Why talk to the person who clearly doesn't want to talk. What's your motivation? Why that person. The world is full of grey. I suspect it's people who can't read the room that get accused of harrasment. The rest can navigate a gym without fear or accusation.

If someone is clearly not interested in conversation then leave them alone. That goes for any setting. As the poster stated when they replied its all about context.
