Asian / South Asian

Looking on the search criteria what is classed as Asian and what is South Asian?

Seems the same to me.

I would think Asian is Oriental Asian e.g. Chinese, Japanese etc. and then South Asian is Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan etc.

Thats what I thought but when we search Asian it gives us Indian etc
